Originally named "Brownsville," it was forced to change its name because that name was being used for a city in Linn County. Its name comes from an early French settler, Charles Dause, who often used the phrase "La Grande" to describe the area's beauty. The population was 13,082 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Union County. La Grande lies east of the Blue Mountains and southeast of Pendleton.

Decided to give this restaurant despite having initial misgivings. It had turned out to be better than I had thought. The decor was pleasant but the two entrances made the layout confusing as the hosting entrance was off Adams Street.The menu is quite varied with Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and some Vietnamese influences (not mentioned though). Food is not particularly spicy which is fine for those with lower tolerances. Best dishes include the Satays and spicy beef don rice bowl. Service was good and value for money superb, you can have a decent meal with a drink for about $20. The only criticisms I would have is the bottled wasn't very cold and the spicy dishes tended to be more salty rather than spicy. I would recommend the restaurant who want something different.

I was pleasantly surprised to find they have very good food, large servings and very reasonable prices. I did one of the lunch specials and was not expecting to get nearly as much for my money. I would recommend this place for good food without breaking the budget.

The place is admittedly challenging to find, but totally worth it. It looks to be a former Italian restaurant with grape and Tuscan motif, but it is such a beautiful space, in the back corner of an underground, that who cares. The service this night was a little slow, but nice. They took a while getting around to getting our order even though there were only 4 or 5 tables occupied, but the food came up very quickly.The food was delicious and fresh. It was light and flavorful with a great variety of veggies and enough protein to make us both happy. Wine was also only $5 a glass. We had the caramelized ginger with tofu and the mixed veggies with chicken and we both ate greedily. Portions sizes were perfect.We would definitely eat here again.
