This small restaurant on the main downtown drag (S. Broadway aka Hwy 101) is conveniently located in a little pocket of restaurants near the embarcadero. It has a hip, trendy feel with the string lighting, assortment of seemingly random tables and chairs, and quaint decor. While the food was good (average fish & chips and good halibut burger) and prices reasonable, the service was plainly average. We got a good indication of the service to come when our party of 2 took approximately 20 minutes to be seated at one of the three 2-top tables along the front window, while there were three vacant and clean 4-top tables sitting open in the middle of the dining floor. In fact a line of 3 more couples formed behind us while those 3 larger tables sat idle and we all stood around waiting for one of the three 2-tops to finally open up. Apparently it's their policy to not sit couples at a table that could maybe, possibly be used for a foursome at some point in the evening? Weird. Our waiter was not terribly attentive either, getting water refills or clearing our empty plates and only checked in with us once during the entire meal before dropping off the check. While not a bad experience, we had better fish & chips at another popular spot in Coos Bay, and we'll likely skip SharkBites the next time we're in Coos Bay.

My visit was at the beginning of spring break. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating for large groups. Accommodates families with children. The welcome upon entering was friendly and we were assisted to choose any table we wanted. The lounge and restaurant were separated nicely. Happy hour in the lounge was a nicely priced one. We arrived to early to participate in the happy hour.Menu items were priced a bit above what I expected. Breakfast omelette was over ten dollars and the portion were more than adequate.Nothing stood out as being memorable for me to put on my "be sure to visit again" list.

Located at the heart of Coos Bay Oregon, the Blue Heron Bistro is a small-town German restaurant serving traditional German food, local seafood, and more. We now do brunch on Sundays 10 to 3 .
Our family of three was craving a hearty, warm, meat and potatoes kind of meal late on Friday evening. We had a very pleasant experience with great customer service, a cool atmosphere, and delicious food! We were recommended amazing choices for dinner and we definitely recommend them as well: weiner schnitzel, sauerbraten, and clam chowder. We also paid with cash which got us a free dessert, we chose strudel and everything was tasty!

Fisherman's Grotto Provides Freshly Made Coastal Seafood to the Coos Bay, OR Area.
We were so excited to eat at Fisherman Grotto. This cozy restaurant has the freshest homemade seafood dishes. Their clam chowder is delicious and we had the freshest fish/shrimp and chips and the most creamiest shrimp pasta The fish and shrimp melted in your mouth. Friendly staff and other customers were raving about how their French fries were the tastiest they ever ate. If you are touring the beaches on this route, this is a definite stop in Coos Bay area. This is definitely a pearl on the coast.

Great service. Was busy even early on a weeknight for dinner. Lots to choice from including specials. We had several appetizers. The mussels were different than those Iâve had previously. We really enjoyed the calamari. Several of the rolls were very good. I was not a fan of the seared tuna.

The person I was traveling with remembered this restaurant from years ago. So it was a must experience.Trying to find something positive I can say there is easy access off and on the road. Plenty of parking. My litmus test for a coast cafe is the chowder. More like potato soup. Very few clams and no flavor. It was served piping hot and I like that.Dinner partner had the fish and chips. The breading on the fish had no flavor. The fish was moist and cooked to perfection. No flavor thought. Large portion of no flavor fish.Skip the coleslaw all together. An IPA from "Seven Devils" brewery was very good and a decent price of $5 per pint.

Portside Lounge has the best happy hour on the coast. Well actually the best happy hour I have ever experienced. It was especially nice to be greeted when I walked in. I noticed the bartender greeted everyone that walk in. It seems the locals enjoy this happy hour. What makes this happy hour special? House liquors are not bottom shelf! A Jim Beam whiskey sour with cherry was $2.75. Draft domestics were only $2 and a selection of Micro brews were $4 per pint. Now the best part of this happy hour is the $5 food menu. Three pieces of fish, fries were my choice off the $5 menu. My friend had the shrimp salad for $5. A nearby table had the clam chowder and said it was great. Several selections on the $5 menu.Happy hour is 3pm to 6 pm every day of the week! Lots of tables by the window so you can sit and watch folks digging for clams. Big TV located for watching sports if you want. The room is large enough that if you want privacy you could find a place.Don't hesitate to visit even if you can't make it for the happy hour. You can't go wrong giving Portside Lounge a visit.

I ate here with my three kids 7/7/2019 for dinner. We each got small plates, one just a kids meal. The bill came and it was $72. They neglected to give me an itemized receipt so I went and asked for one. They charged me $5 for my 7 year olds milk! I can buy 2 gallons for that! Teach me to make sure I look at drink prices, though I do not believe Milk was on the menu. When I asked for the itemized receipt, the waitress became nervous, handed to me and whoosh gone. The food was nothing special by the way. Better eats down the street!

Great clam chowder. Has a slight âcajunâ flavor but creamy with a reasonable amount of potatoes and lots of clams! Halibut Fish & Chips reminded me of English Fish & Chips. Chips ( french fries) were quite good. Good beer on tap.
