La Grande /ləˈɡrænd/ is a city in Union County, Oregon, United States. Originally named "Brownsville," it was forced to change its name because that name was being used for a city in Linn County. Rough around the edges, but it's a local independent place, much like a Denny's, but with BBQ items added. Had lunch, a pulled pork sandwiche, it was very good, but it seems to always have lots if cars for breakfast, and seems to be very popular for lunch, saying they serve"breakfast all day".

When we're passing thru town we always stop at Benchwarmer for lunch. Great bar with lots of beer selections. Not fancy but good sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Even can order tater tots instead of fries for a change. Patty melt has grilled onions on top. Great service that makes visitors feel like locals. $

For more than 65 years Denny's has been bringing people together over great food. It's the place where people can relax and be themselves; where they can enjoy classic American comfort food and everyday value. 24 hours a day. 365 days a year. Here, you ca
Stopped here on the way back from Seattle. The food, service and atmosphere were quintessential Dennyâs. Nothing to write home about but the food was ok. Fries were not crispy and were certainly not our favorite part of the meal. Sandwiches were average.

Don't let the plain looking dinning room suggest you are not going to have a great meal. Some of our food (six family members) was amazingly very very good. Everything else was good. Even thought it was near closing time (8 PM) when we arrived the service was outstanding. The salad, homemade soup, bread sticks and Marinara sauce was outstanding. Everything we ate was good to very good. If you are in La Grande at mealtime don't miss the opportunity to eat at this somewhat hidden gem.

Joe & Sugars Cafe is in the heart of downtown La Grande (located next to Red Cross Drug Store). We serve a full service Breakfast from 7-11 and Lunch from 11-3.Offering a daily lunch special.
Not bad but not great. Servers were over-extended on a Saturday, so don't expect prompt service. Friendly enough, but not very fast. Coffee is self-serve. I sat for a long time waiting for someone to fill my cup before being told to do it myself. Eventually, the order was placed, the food got to my table and it was OK. Food was nothing to rave about, but ultimately satisfying.Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Weekends are definitely a very busy time. All of our food is made to order so it can take time when we are busy. I strive to make each customers experience a good one. Your input helps me to see where weâve fallen short. Again, thank you!

This is a truck stop restuarant - nothing fancy. There is also a lounge. We live in La Grande and eat at the restuarant. Very good food.
The portions were not truck stop size but the food was good. The prices were average and the service was excellent. This place certainly has adequate seating. I was sort of in between breakfast and lunch but it worked out fine because everything on the menu was available. The burger was not huge but was very good and I was able to order it with hash browns. The server was prompt and accommodating. My personal view, it's much better than Denny's.

We found this place on trip advisor while traveling from Idaho to Portland. Great breakfast. I had the seafood omelet and my traveling companions had the chicken fried steak and the corn beef hash. All were excellent. We stopped again on our way back through. I wanted to try something different ( big mistake). I chose the huevos rancheros. It wasnât that they were bad...I just assumed they would have beans. But they came with ground beef, no beans. They should have a description on the menu or let people know. That was my only complaint. The hash browns were very good.Weâll definitely stop again when traveling this route.

Tried this place while on a motorcycle trip with friends. Wife and I paid extra for a called alcohol drink but the service from the bar was so slow the drinks tasted watered down because they sat so long with the ice melting. Food was good for the price.

Had their hazy IPA for a quick pit stop. Great beer. Refreshing on an August day. Friendly staff and patrons. Food looked great (I didnât eat there). Busy and cool ambiance. Named for the hot side of a fire, as itâs in an old fire station. So glad you were able to stop by! Next time you'll have to get some grub to go along with the beer!
