Things to do in Orange Walk
The restaurant was deserted when we arrived. Come to find out it was for a good reason. We ordered cokes and nachos. The coke took 15 mins to show up and the food came out 45 minutes later, colder than the cokes. We were the only 2 people in the whole place for most of the 45 minutes. In that time a guy walked in, sat down, ordered, was served, ate, paid and left while we were still waiting. At checkout the girl made me wait while she was texting on her phone, then was acting weird with my credit card. Pretty sure she was looking for an opening to take a cell phone picture of my card.Worst dinning experience in recent memory.
Our guide on our Lamanai trip recommended this place. Wilfredo lives in the area and goes here regularly. We don't know how regularly they get tourists, but they did have an English menu, and the staff spoke some English. Between our Spanish and their English, we had a great time.We had tacos pastor (tasty pork cooked on a spit) and beef and pork rind tacos. They were $1.50 BZ each - a little more than some of the other street stalls, but very good.
Right by the Shell fuel station
The title of the review says it all: this is probably the simplest, no-frills, no-nonsense, local food joint in Orange Walk. Don't expect four-seasons service as you won't get it; but what you'll get is 100% genuine, local, greasy-spoon fare!

Had a quick lunch here one day. The chicken stew and beef stew were so delicious and served with tons of beans and rice. The restaurant itself is cheap and cheerful, plastic tables and chairs, friendly owners.
The dinner house restaurant is one of the best restaurant here in Orange Walk. We are here to serve you. Our friendly staff are ready to serve you with a smile.
We just had dinner at the dinner house and will be back. Tasty fajitas and chirmole we loved very much. Nice people and good food. Thank you!
Where to eat Bar food in Orange Walk: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, which included several meals at this restaurant. The menu is solid, with a variety of choices, including great ceviche, burritos, chicken, fish, and other selections. The restaurant has an outdoor patio bar serving beer, wine, rum drinks, and several higher end spirits for a thirsty traveler. The view is wonderful. You can sit on the patio or right along river and enjoy wildlife and river travelers. The restaurant closes at 7:00 and sometimes offers music. We stayed for 6 nights at one of the stand-alone cabanas and were very pleased with our selection. It's handy having a restaurant and bar so close, especially returning after a long day outing. The hospitality of the owner, Mr. P, is wonderful. He's so interesting and helpful, it was a pleasure to stay here. As a suggestion, a sign at the side road would be helpful but not necessary as the guide books show this facility on their maps.

Maracas Bar and Grill is a great option for dining on the river. We offer daily tours to Lamanai. You can enjoy a beer on the river deck while watching the tug boats and barges travel the river hauling sugar and molasses for export. Good food...Good music
This past weekend I drove from Belmopan to visit Maracas to dine in. I was astonished by the awesome food, scenery, and atmosphere. I got to meet Malique who delivered the best customer service which made us feel welcomed during our every minute of our visit.
