We arrived around 8.45 due to a delay with the airline, waited patiently at reception to eventually be met by the kitchen staff and given a key. Dinner had finished 15 mins earlier and there was no offer of trying to accommodate us. Room was comfortable breakfast was a delight and a gorgeous location.

We were so happy when we booked that hotel since the pictures seemed very nice and the place authentic. Once we got there the hotel manager (a rude lady) told us she had given our room to some guests who wanted to stay longer (absurd) and took us to another horrible hotel which was dirty and small and the light did not work. It was a horrible experience that ruined our day in Oppenau. Do not book there as she does that really often apparently.

We stayed here for our third night on a two week trip round Europe, we arrived from Spa Francorchamps after hours of rain to stunning sunshine. On finding the entrance to the hotel (in motorbike gear it feels much more tiring) we were greeted by the hotel manager who is very friendly and attentive. She knew we needed motorbike parking and gave us access to their private garage, what a personal touch, we felt honoured. We made our way up to our room which was spacious and clean, freshened up and went for a wander. Walking around Oppenau is so peaceful, we came across a war memorial which as this was our first time in Germany found interesting and took the moment to take in something we hadn't expected to see. The buildings in the village are stunning. We ate and drank in the hotel restaurant, the food was divine and the young waiter was learning English so he wanted to practice with us but we spoke what German we could with him, he was a lovely young man. All of the staff at this hotel were splendid. We sat in the sunhine until the sun went down, the atmosphere was perfect for a summers evening, it was clearly the place to go (although there didn't seem to be much else around). As it was so warm we slept with the window open, opposite a church which chimed all night, we didn't sleep that well! If you stay here, ask for a room facing away from the church but not sure if that would help. The breakfast in the morning was basic but what you needed. We had a chat with the hotel manager and the chef (think they were married?) and they were so keen to hear about our planned trip. Such wonderful people running a lovely B&B. We would go back and recommend for this Black Forest stay.

Myself and my husband arrived at the hotel on a very rainy day on a motorbike. We were met in the car park and directed to the garage where we were to leave our motorbike with the offer to dry our wet motorcycle gear. Parking is ample, dry and there are tools, screen cleaner, oil etc for customers to use - we left with a sparkling motorbike. The hotel is very authentic Black Forest, the view from our balcony was amazing and very peaceful. The town of Oppenau is not walkable distance for food but the hotel restaurant is very highly recommended. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Good hot shower. Great breakfast and great service. English spoken. We only stayed for 1 night as touring but we really liked this hotel & would have liked to stay for longer. Good proximity to the B500, Allerheiligen waterfall & mummelsee

The hotel owner is definitely hard to deal with, he hardly speaks two words of English and is very strict. No credit card was accepted, so we had to jump outside and get some cash to pay for the room. During that time the price of the room magically increased from 75 to 78 euros for a double room (our friends that booked in advance had a bigger room for 60 euros). We asked for a twin-bed room, the owner confirmed it was, but we got a big double bed which I had to share with a colleague of different sex. The furniture and locals are clean, but smell very anciently. The room and the bathroom were really small and creapy. moreover, although I had a crutch, the owner made me go up to the third floor with no elevator. Since he knew we were taking part to a big local event he didn't provide us with breakfast, because it was also served at the event (letting us have no choice where to have it). Since our friends were sleeping one more night at the same place, the morning after we went there on foot to get together to the event. Although instructed to let us in the room by the guests, the owner decided to let us stand OUTSIDE the hotel under the rain and with cold weather (I still had a crutch) to wait or friends, because it was 8h00 am and the hotel was full of sleeping clients that we would have woke up because being noisy while going upstairs! Another thing: the owner pretended that they have wi-fi, but that it couldn't work because the network got broken during the rainstorm.
