Wind Japanese & Thai is an All You Can Eat restaurant located in downtown St Catharines. Wind was recently renovated showcasing Asian influences and a warm and inviting environment. Large groups and private rooms available. Two, four and six person booths
Was told today when we arrived that in addition to the $2-$3 surcharge just because its the weekend, that there is an additional $2 surcharge because it's a long weekend and that there are no additional items added to the menu to justify this. Wasn't crazy about paying an extra fee for the same food on the weekend in the past but this 2nd surcharge is the nail in the coffin for this management tactic of charging more just because it's busy. I can't continue to support businesses with this mentality. They have also been increasing their pricing over the past few years making this weekend dinner almost $35 per person. It's just not right and there are many other options in the Niagara Region such as Big Tuna Sushi and Sushi Surprise and my favourite of all Asian restaurants, The Far East Restaurant in Niagara Falls.

Korean place on Welland Ave which has stood the test of time. Atmosphere is cafeteria-esque but food is well-prepared. Check out their Bibimbap, BBQ eel and the spicy squid entrees. Korean beer available by the bottle. I've been going here for years and never have had a bad experience.

I am not the most adventurous diner, but when I found myself with an hour to spend in St. Catharines, I headed right over to Amakara Japan for lunch by myself. And it was LOVELY! The restaurant is cozy, welcoming and I felt totally at ease sitting by myself. The other patrons included university students, couples, seniors and millennials. I ordered one of the luncheon specials and all I could think was that I had a taste of heaven in my mouth. IT WAS WONDERFUL! The food is so fresh, the service was friendly and my lunch was outstanding. Did I already mention that I felt like I had a taste of heaven? I spent the afternoon telling other people I saw what a great lunch I had - and I think several of them will be heading that way soon.
