So many new items to choose from and as always, a great selection of beverages. We had dinner with 2 good friends and all enjoyed trying out something from the new menu. We also enjoyed the super service from Candice. Can't wait to see what they come up with next. Also, booking a special dinner in their new addition on the 2nd floor. More to come after our visit.

Looking on-line for something outside the mainstream of Canadian/American cuisine, we happened upon Amherstburg's Royal Sushi House, right in the middle of Amherstburg's downtown. Wow! What a find! This small restaurant has three or four booths and some counter seating, so it might be best to make a reservation. Their reservation process includes a call to the restaurant, which promises a return confirming call. We called, they didn't, but did have our names when we arrived. (Note: -- Take-out is available.) Sushi restaurants in Japan often deliver food via a conveyor that passes by each table. Royal Sushi has a charming conveyor system in the form of a small water-filled canal with rowboats that bring your food to you. Very cute -- perhaps a nod to Amherstburg's nautical history and the Detroit River, which is only a block away. The sushi list is long and tempting -- so many choices. Salmon seems first and foremost, with dozens of possibilities. There are hot dishes and combo plates large enough for families or groups. Whatever you want in terms of Japanese cuisine, you'll find it. Unfortunately, with the delayed writing of this two months after our visit, I don't remember exactly what we had, but the memory of really, really enjoying this is still fresh. Royal Sushi has a good list of Japanese beers, a couple of sakes and a minimalist wine list -- no exciting wines here. Food prices are more than you'd normally encounter in a Japanese restaurant, and service is slow, but both of these are made up for by the quality of the food. Just plan for a leisurely experience of wonderful food. Monday-Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday dinner only (4- 8), closed Monday. Bottom line, we highly recommend Royal Sushi! We're still amazed at finding this unlikely gem in a small Canadian town. We'll be back again -- and soon! Enjoy!

Weâve ordered from here several times and the food has always been good. Great value and tasty food is what youâd expect and itâs what you get from this local restaurant. Service is great and friendly. The food is cooked using fresh vegetables that are not over cooked. We will be ordering from here in the future.
