This is a small sushi restaurant in Richmond Hill run by a Japanese sushi chef. Sashimi and sushi here are very fresh and nicely prepared. This place is quite busy especially in the weekends. Note that they close on Monday. We are regular customers her and service is OK. Sometimes it's slow due to the restaurant being very busy. Their service is a little laid back, I suggest you go somewhere else if you are in a hurry. They pay good attention to the food they serve. In another visit, we had an issue with our sake and they immediately gave us a new one. I do recommend this restaurant if you really enjoy quality sushi.

Though owned and run by Chinese. The brigade of chefs has received decent Japanese training thus the food is surprisingly authentic and well prepared. Luncheon offers the usual run-of-the-mill Bento boxes, Udon & Ramens and Donburis. However, dinner choices are much more varied and refined. Even Omakase is available. Lunches are a bit pricey when compare to say the ' Ichiban's ' in the area, but quality of food makes up for this shortfall especially the beautifully executed ultra crispy, minimal batter and greaseless Tempuras. The Teriyakis are also nicely executed, though the amount of sauce was a bit stingy. Seafood and fish varieties, quality and price of the Chirashi was also better than their nearby competitors. Service was very friendly and efficient. Overall, a more than acceptable Japanese restaurant in Richmond Hill's predominantly Chinese culinary landscape

Thank goodness for these reviews. We would never have even noticed this small restaurant in a little strip plaza but now that we found it we'll certainly go back. The atmosphere and décor are very nice and the sushi was delicious. Reasonably priced for the quality.

Went with family to Gal's Sushi. It is located across the road from the Hilton Suites hotel in Markham.Lots of free parking and the restaurant is spacious.Ordered the bento box meals for the family. Overall, food was ok...but very small portion size when compared to the Japanese restaurants in downtown Toronto. Note, the prices were also approx 20-25% more than a comparable bento box in Toronto downtown. Not sure I can fully recommend based on portion size and prices.

We had a blast in the VIP room at Kiu. There were 14 of us and the room comes equipped with private karaoke, couches and traditional Japanese dinner seating. We ordered the 12 foot sushi and sashimi board along with oodles of other dishes. The pork belly was a must. The price for the quality of food was very good. A great list of Saki and fun cocktails. This is a fun trip to Markham and well worth the drive. Please follow @joannasable on instagram for more food fun.

Excellent sushi rolls with the freshest ingredient. Pizza sushi, salads and other side order are not to be missed. Bibimbap served on hot stone bowl keeps your rice warm in cold winter days while you are eating. Our all time favourite . Warm sake for the wine lovers in a lovely little serving kettle .

This little Sushi restaurant is a very nice restaurant to dine at or even order take-out. While the prices are a bit higher than other Sushi places, the food is worth it and it is consistently very good. This is my top recommendation for Sushi in Richmond Hill. The staff is very friendly. The only downside is the location is small but they do try to accommodate. They are busy most of the time but that is because they are so good.

We've been here a couple of times when visiting friends and each time has been consistent. The have fresh sushi and sashimi prepared in front of you. Also, the have freshly prepared Peking duck. They also have freshly prepared noodles. The variety of the other dishes is impressive and they keep them refreshed continually.

At Tomo Sushi has been to create a friendly atmosphere where people can come together and enjoy variety of high quality Japanese cuisine.
5 of us were there for dinner as they got a high rating from TripAdvisor. We had 6 appetizers in which their Beef Enoki Mushroom stood out. We enjoyed every mouthful of the â92 piece party trayâwith, 42pcs sashimi, 24pcs sushi, 26pcs roll hi & rolls. We were in a room with rice paper panels, comfortable and with privacy. Our server was very attentive and efficient. It was a nice experience, will definitely be back.

Zen Japanese Restaurant is aiming for the preservation of the traditional culture of Japanese cuisine, which gives the best impression of the cuisine to the patron while being loved by them.
Enjoyed the Sushi Kaiseki tasting menu with my hunny on Valentine's. A bit on the expensive side, but we save these dinners for special occasions. The variety on the menu is wonderful. Service is very precise and not overbearing. Actually wanted to sit at the sushi bar (up close to the action) but for Kaiseki menu, we were only allowed to sit at a table.
