The infamous taco rice that represents the intertwining of American and Okinawan culture is a solid menu choice here. The ingredients are piled sky high, and the sheer amount you get for the price (600 yen for the vegetables + cheese option) is hard to beat. Another great option if you're not that hungry, are the tacos. Being from San Diego, I knew that I couldn't expect Mexicali style tacos, but these served as a great snack. Just remember not to place the Mexican standard at ANY of the 'Mexican' restaurants here on the island, and you won't be disappointed.

Not the best Okinawa taco but still satisfies a craving. The shell is a little burnt and is a little too soggy for me. I think they use more of a flour shell than corn. The shells of Okinawa tacos are typically fried but not crunchy and this shell seems a bit too soggy. I wouldn't go out of my way to try these but if you're in the area I'd still try them.

No table service. No napkins. All normal Mexican bits like guacamole are considered "extras". Great location and balcony is nice on a mild night. Cocktails just okay. Naming of the "Midori" based cocktail, Pearl Harbour, perhaps a little insensitive. Thank you for coming to our shop.Terrace seating has increased!Please come again!

The Tacos-ya in Chatan is a small shop that you can pass by driving if you've never heard of it. Parking is scarce so you'll have to walk there most likely, but it is next to another five bar that's popular. Anyways, hands down the best taco you'll find in Chatan. Crispy shells, fresh veggies and they are pretty filling too. 5/5 for me.

We ate here twice - once for breakfast and once for lunch. The theme is Mexican and they appear to run on Mexican time. Not fast food. But when the burritos arrived they were hot, packed full of the appropriate stuffings, and very tasty. Very limited seating and not comfortable, especially if the AC is not turned on. Reasonable price. Worthi it if you need somewhere convenient and for take-out. We preferred the Cafe Casa for breakfast.

The taco rice is definitely worth a try! It is like a taco salad, but on a bed of steamed rice. The tacos were also good. Their shells were a combination of puffy & crispy taco shells, which made them a little chewy and crunchy. The hot sauce was outstanding.

I was introduced to this place by a friend who frequented it when he was a Marine stationed on Camp Foster many years ago. I'm by no way a taco connoisseur considering that my first taco ever was at a Taco Bell in Colorado back in 1980, underwhelming first impression to say the least. Fast forward to Okinawa, where I become addicted to Charlie's Tacos, fast forward a few more years and I get introduced to Mexico's version, and let me tell you it is by far my favorite. Great tastiing with the perfect amount of meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese wrapped around a deep fried shell and of course the salsa makes every bite a moment of heaven. I encourage you to try the other taco shops and then try Mexico, perhaps you'll love 'em as much as I do.
