Our Kunasaki bus trip stopped at this little restaurant for our lunch. It had a small tourist souvenir shop in front, and a small dining room with seating for about 50. There were three long common tables, with elevated cushioned seating around the perimeter. Green tea was offered immediately and it was quite good. The lunch set was large and varied and the food was quite good. We ordered soba as our noodle and it seemed the owner went to special trouble to make it for us â the tour guide seemed pleased that we ordered soba indicating that she thought it was the best choice. We were told the vegetarian meal was made up of mountain vegetables from nearby and represented the local cuisine. I don't think many Western tourists come here and the owner and his wife were interested in knowing where we came from and our impressions of our trip. Our 2 lunches came to Â¥2180. It was an excellent lunch!

What a wonderful experience! The onsen ryokan is run by the family who are also the priests in charge of the 800 plus years old one-room temple. The room was good size and the onsen facility was good. The meals were terrific, a dozen or so dishes, beyond the traditional Japanese style, with western cooking technique; and we spent two nights here, and they changed the menu very meal. The temple was just 50 yards next door, and we could walk about the ground any time. We had an early morning meditation session led by one of the priests. A quiet, peaceful and lovely place!
