Reviews on Central European food in Odessa, Odessa Oblast, Ukraine. With just over a million people, Odessa is Ukraine’s fourth-largest city. Set in the country’s south along the Black Sea coast, Odessa was founded in the late 18th century as a Russian naval fortress. For many years in the mid-19th century, it was a free port, becoming home to a multinational populace. In 1905, it was the site of a major Russian Revolution uprising by crew members of the Battleship Potemkin. The nice old town area has a beautiful opera house, and the city has many great beaches.

We had dinner there with a group of six on a weekday evening. We had heard that mussels there are good and we definitely weren't disappointed, but due to its central location on the main street the terrace is VERY noisy. Service was quite average and slow, but at least they spoke some English.

Jardin looks out on City Park, a green and peaceful scene. That was the best thing about this establishment.Although there were few diners, service was very slow. When it came, it was pretentious.I was an English speaker dining with Russian-speaking friends. I was provided with an English menu. As we all discussed our meal options, it became apparent that there was major variation between the English and Russian menus. When I ordered, I was told that the dish I had selected was not available. I asked why and was told I had an old menu. When we did eventually get our meals, we had ravioli with slow cooked duck which was tough and stringy, over-cooked salmon fillet and a tiny serve of rather tough foie gras. There is an extensive wine list featuring wines from all over Europe and several non-European countries. Jardin deserves some credit for having not just a New Zealand sauvignon blanc, but a very good one. Wine prices were expensive however. The mediocre food and poor service was made even less palatable by Jardin's prices. The place is expensive. Therre are several much better restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

The position , decor and ambiance was out of the world. The waiter who was assigned to us was very attentive and offered immaculate unobtrusive service. I was dazzled by the cake selection. Rather than choose of the menu I went up to their display and stood like a 7 year old in a candy store. The waiter soon joined me and offered good suggestions and helped me select 2. I considered a 3rd from the mouth watering array but seeing the size decided to restrict myself to 2. I enjoyed every morsel with a freshly brewed espresso, with a fancy picture on the foam. My wife decided on delicious cheese platter, roasted walnuts and crystalized honey and a basket of fresh warm black bread with some super chilled Vodka and coke. We loved both our respective dishes and happily sampled from each other. It was a real treat, and the surroundings certainly enhanced the experience.Thank you for your feedback! come to us again!

We were for a dinner unfortunately we ate one dish for another, this because the staff did not speak English. The dishes were very salty and we were not satisfied at all, as the service did nothing to apologize, for example by offering something or making a discount on the bill.

Odessa is not known for warm service in restaurants and while getting quality food is not a problem like in this restaurant, it also stands out with really great service. Pasta was amazing, so was pizza (we took another one for sharing afterwards). And for 6 people dine&wine we paid approx 1250 UAH. Which is cheap for such qualityDear elbalive, Thank you for the review. Saremo felici che le è piaciuto da noi! Looking forward to welcoming you back in Pasta&Pizza!

This elegant and formidable reastaurant is one of legends. The chef is known for patenting his own duck dish, making it his specialty. The food her is just superb, no matter what you choose to eat. For appetizers we got bun bread with different taste (Paprika, bacon, cheese and tomato). for Main dish I had a pork chop that was perectly roasted, it melted in my mouth. For dessert, green honey cake with autentic freah honey. This cake will leave you a signature, meaning you will do green in the toilet for a week, and makes for an interesting memoriare. Dinner for 2, 4 dishes each and expensive wine, total cost of 1400 uah.

The elegant Sophie Cafe is located on the ground floor of the Frederic Koklen hotel. With a classical contemporary style and tranquil views over Odessa's old city center, Sophie Cafe provides a vibrant setting to indulge in a wide range of European and lo
Ukraine is an impressive country still largely undiscovered by western tourists. Magnificent churches and monasteries, important historic landmarks, rundown palaces, grim reminders of wars and revolutions: Ukraine has it all. But a destination for foodies it is not. During my one week holiday I had only a couple of really good culinary experiences. One of them happened to be in the Frederic Koklen hotel in Odesa where I stayed the night. Sophie Cafe is a stylish restaurant with a lovely all-glass enclosure that serves very traditional food: a simple but delicious plate of pike caviar, quail flambéed at the table and served with grapes and mashed potatoes (how very eighties - but quite tasteful nonetheless), the chefâs own take on Kiev cake. Good wines by the glass to accompany the meal. And all this at a very reasonable price indeed. In the barren culinary land Ukraine in my experience is, Sophie Cafe definitely deserves an honourable mention.

The only restaurant in Ukraine to achieve eight times in a row "Best of Award of Excellence" award from Wine Spectator Magazine. More than 1300 different wine labels from all over the world. Live music - every day (during the dinner). Fresh market product
Since our wedding, which we celebrated there some years ago, till 2019 we have seen ups and downs. the last 2 years for shure clear DOWNS. more than once pushed away by Bodyguards of some strange guest, who wanted obviously no more guests. the ambiente outside is complete different to the shown Picture. that is the view how it was in 2013, nowadays i would say : compared to the Prices the had been extremely economic with outside meubles . cosy ? absolutely NOT. the Building around getting worse with every year. the Points which made it up for us : 1. the waiter and 2. the dishes . the duck sald was nice, realy. the sorbets i can recommend mostly the mongo. the Lemon sorbet was some try to serve a frozen Mojito, but too much peppermint taste, the Lemon burried in a green sea of peppermint. and also missing the small touch of rum. the vine we tried ( georgian) realy good. but , even the Manager recognized us, he did not come to greet. no hello, how are you. Maybe you are recognized only after 200 bucks onwards ? leaving the Restaurant also no good bye, thank you for your visit. i expect a better guest Treatment, if you want to be a first class Restaurant. can i recommend ? if u are used to the behaviour in such Kind of odessit Restaurants ( big orders mean big tipps) it s worth the food and the vine. but the times, i call them the golden times of this Restaurants, when u came there, ordered only a cappucino, in the Yard outside, and you are treated as if you just ordered a huge menu, those times are obviously gone for ever. and sorry, and a nice toilet alone is not making a classy Restaurant..
