Homemade modern food with Fresh products
This is an unassuming little place with patio dining near the Cathedral and Toulouse Museum. It's on a road lined with little restaurants, but of all those, it seemed to have the most interesting selection at reasonable prices. A small issue... The menus are in French and the waiters only speak French, so English only speakers may need help from Google Translator. The easiest thing is to order from the 3-course menu and choose fish, poultry, pork or beef. After that, you will be presented with fascinating plates of fine food.

Attention,
There are many amazing restuarants located in hotels but they are careful to create their own micro-climate, offering an ambience distinct from the coporate so that the food can shine and the experience transcend the average. Le Goulu does it differently. The dining area has the same decor as its conference rooms and, worst of all, the same harsh lighting - great for reading an agenda, less so for a cosy supper a deux. For this reason it has its work cut out and, the night we went, most of the clientel looked as if they were in business meetings and dining on expense accounts.Despite all that, the food was good, even though we went budget on the Menu du Jour. The mushroom soup was earthy and autumnal, balanced nicely with a soft egg. Duck confit also worked well with pearl barley in risotto formation. Pudding was unusual, the fig tart was fine but the liquorice ice cream left our mouths and plates looking distinctly Haloween Gothic. Good local wines available by the glass, including a fruity dessert white. The bill came to a reasonable 75E.We hear good things about the other more adventurous set menus, so, if you can live with the lack of ambience, the cooking should see you through.

A very good meal but rather large portions, The food was fresh, well served and a good choice. The restaurant does not have outside space and was rather hot and stuffy

Centrum city restaurant with a nordic decoration( it's normal, the chef is Swedish and his wife is Belgian) You can enjoy the kitchen work thru the long Windows showing the chefs. Cosy and dynamic athmospher. The best place in Albi to travel sitting! We o
Maybe my opinion is not very subjective as I like very much, which can offer everything you need for a perfect dinner, but without âposhâ style. Lâepicurien has this special feature! You see action in the kitchen, as there is a glass wall to the action point of this place. Service is fast, attentive and very professional. Last but not least - food is very, very good. We took tuna and selection of French cold cuts to start and both were very tasty. As main course I took something what is called âpork spiderâ - a pieces of pork marinated in an Asian marinade and than grilled. My wife was for a turbot and she was also very satisfied

It's hard to find fault with this restaurant and I hesitated before deciding not to give it 5*. Service was good, friendly, food quality was very good, it's clean and comfortable. In the end I decided on 4* purely because there wasn't anything outstanding that made it stand out; everything was very good though and I haven't got any real criticisms. Certainly to be recommended and we will go back.Careful on the opening hours, it's only open Mon-Fri lunchtime and Thurs/Fri/Sat evening.

on a recent visit to Albi, having consulted trip, we prebooked Au Hibou, as our meeting place. It is small but has everything you need on a hot sunny day, (not sure it would be as good if it was raining) as the front wall opens out onto the market square. There is a limited selection of each course, restricted by what is available on the market, but the selection covers all possible needs and the food is both well presented and tasty.a 3 course meal plus wine (red and rose) and coffees for 120⬠very correct as the french say..I would definitely go again.Good evening paul24150,Thank you for your visit to our little restaurant. We are happy to have received you. Thank you for your comment .Albigeoisement,Alexandre

Restaurant de spécialités locales, nous ne proposons que des produits frais issus de producteurs tarnais. Le menu et servi midi et soir dans la limite des quantités préparées, nous avons aussi une carte pour vous satisfaire.
We had a very nice meal here of good quality. The guinea fowl and home made rolls were lovely. The ardoise mixte was also very good, although very plain. Some garnish of melon or tomato would have been nice with it. The Tarnaise salad was tiny. A starter, not a main meal. We were also served two glasses of warm rose wine. Very unpleasant. When I queried it with the waitress she seemed surprised that we should want it chilled but offered to fetch us some ice. Weâve lived in France for 15 years and have never been served warm rose. Maybe itâs an Albi speciality?

Ca vaut vraiment le coupEn repartant, vous pouvez passer par l'épicerie et repartir avec les produits qui ont servi à la préparation du repas. C'est original et une très bonne idée !
