My wife and kids were longing for cakes...and upon searching...TA No1 rating pointed to Rokkatei. Deservedly so!
We had our fill after ordering some cakes (coffee self served and free) and enjoying it on the ground floor. You eat standing with tables provided....sensible for a popular place like this.
Only after did we realise they had a sit down restaurant on the upper level. This gives us a good reason to go back again!
We bought loads of goodies back from this place.

This small shop only fits 25-30 customers. A queue forms before opening so be prepared.
The menu is concise. Butadon and nothing else. 2,4,6 or 8 pieces of pork on rice. Miso soup. Drinks. That's it. Dedicated to one dish only.
The meat is wonderfully tender. Well flavored. Juicy. What can I say - it's one of the best I have eaten.
Definitely worth coming to. In fact, I dare say I might just come back to Hokkaido just to eat this.

I am not sure if there are others who are disappointed with this eatery, but I rather put in my own review, based on our group satisfaction level. Even before we reach the restaurant, the reputation of Tonta already whet our appetite.
The grilled marbled pork were heavenly! I say again...heavenly! I rarely indulge in fatty meat but somehow Tonta Butadon broke my discipline. It was a sinful meal. But what a sin ! The salty sweet sauce were perfectly balanced and the grilled pork done just right and juicy...and did not even tasted fatty.
Only grouse is you will always have to be patience to dine at Tonta. Once you are in the eatery, reward yourself by "up-sizing" your order. It's worth it. And before you leave, do grab some of that bottled sauce to take home. You can get the taste...but never the standard achieved at Tonta.
2 thumbs up ? no...4 thumbs up...including my big toes ! Oishi ne !!! Su Goi !

Family lunch enjoyed lamb grilled at our table. The dipping sauce is tasty and you can add spicy red paste too. Onions come with the lamb. Very good. Best lamb!

They got best yakiniku in town.
Their taste and choice of beefs, porks doesn't seem to be Japanese.
The hot sauce, kimchi reminds more of Korean taste then Japanese.
My strong recommendation goes for Donguri Reimen.
Most Reimen(cold noodle) are chicken based cold noodle, reminds of Busan Milmyon then that of actual Nengmyon(Korean cold noodle). But this place got Donguri Reimen that actually taste like real Nengmyon.
Taste great. Taste real.

We went to the one nearby Obihiro station. You can pick here or to go, and we choose to go and ate during driving. It took 15 mins to be ready, since the restaurant was really crowded. However it worth to wait in the line. The food was excellent and the service was great as well. Great place for poak :)
