A jumping-off point for ferries to the Hebridean Islands, the port town of Oban offers a picturesque bayside setting. It's worth catching a later boat to take in the town's stately Victorian architecture, bounty of seafood restaurants, and good pubs.

Enjoying a prime position on the seafront, the Oban Bay Hotel & Spa has great views to Mull and Kerrera. For guests looking to relax and get away from it all, the hotel now offers an outdoor hot tub, spa treatments, along with a small sauna and steam room. In addition, Oban Bay Hotel has a comfortable bar and lounge area and outdoor terrace from which you can watch the world go by.
We stayed for 2 nights in a standard double room on b & b terms. The room was right at the back of the hotel down a long corridor and faced out (through a very small window) onto a building at the back. The room was a very odd shape, not small but the bathroom was pretty tiny. We were very fortunate to find parking at the back of the hotel. Some of the hotel staff were truly excellent; others not so. We were asked to pick breakfast slots on arrival and we chose to go early; we were glad we did. Breakfast was good, but it might be a good idea if the staff explained the choices available as the menu cards did not make it clear what could/could not be ordered. I heard several guests asking about this so we were not alone. The lounge area at the front of the hotel has a beautiful view out over the bay and is a lovely place to sit. We had dinner in the hotel on 1 night and it was disappointing, my wife had langoustine pasta but no langoustines were in the dish. We received a reduction on the meal price but a bit of a let down really. Bar prices were high! Overall we did enjoy our stay in the hotel but not as much as we were anticipating. It is expensive and in our opinion does not fully merit the prices it charges. My last point concerns the addition of a 10% service charge to bills, I do not believe in auto tipping. If I feel the service provided goes beyond what is expected then I will tip direct to the member of staff. I have no problem asking for auto tips to be removed (as the hotel did make clear) and this was done without issue but always leaves doubt in our minds as to how the staff deal with you afterwards.

The finest location on the West coast of Scotland awaits visitors to experience this hotel and it's award-winning restaurant, the perfect place for a relaxing holiday or short break at any time of the year... as long as you can put up with the amazing views, the fantastic food, the log fire in the lounge and the selection of malt whiskys!
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at the Loch Melfort Hotel while we were staying in the area. The food was fantastic and we had a table looking out over the bay and the field of goats, rabbits, chickens and highland cattle. A walk down the path to the waterfront was the perfect way to end the evening.

With 9 enchanting guest bedrooms rich in contemporary art and rustic furnishings, our boutique hotel offers a place of rest on Oban’s Esplanade. Each room is fully furnished with luxury amenities to make your stay even more comfortable and cosy.
This hotel is fairly close to the centre overlooking the sea. It is a bit quirky in its decor but very comfortable. The breakfast needs to be ordered the night before but there is a good selection including porridge with honey and whisky and eggs Benedict and it was beautifully served. There is no lift and the stairs are quite steep but the view from the front rooms make the climb worthwhile.

Perle Oban is a luxury hotel in Oban that boasts beautiful views over the harbour. With the train station and ferry terminal a stone throws away, it is the ideal base for exploring the islands and highlands. Designed with the perfect combination of Victorian charm and modern style. Breathe in the refreshing sea air, taste authentically local produce, and explore the awe-inspiring views of Oban. Our stylish and comfortable accommodation in Oban can help you discover a new lease of life as you switch off, retune, and explore.
We spent one night at the Perle and it was lovely. The only small pain is that they have no on-site parking, and when we arrived there wasn't even space to pull over to run in and see about check in. But we managed. We found a car park a couple of blocks from the hotel and hauled our luggage down the street to check in. Our room on the second floor was very nice, with a view of the cute town out our window. We had dinner that night at the Indian restaurant in the hotel and it was really good. The breakfast in the same space the next morning was even better, the best of our entire two week vacation in Scotland (and we didn't have a bad breakfast the whole time). I'd highly recommend the Perle if you are staying in Oban.

We had travelled all day to Oban and just wanted a light snack and drink before heading for our pod accommodation. So we called into this hotel. What a disappointment . The lady behind the bar was quite short with us when we asked could we just have a drink and chips or a small snack. She asked quite abruptly were we guests? We said no …? she then said svd pointed rudely …sit there! We watched her make some comment about us to the young waiter before he came to take our order. we ordered our drinks and two light snacks. Chips and faloffel, which were very tasty and all that we needed. We finished our food, drinks and paid. We won’t be returning there again.

The Manor House, a superb Georgian House built in 1780 by the 5th Duke of Argyll, offers spectacular views over Oban Bay and the Isles of Kerrera, Lismore and Mull. Our owner run hotel with restaurant combines the manor’s understated but elegant appearance, the traditional values of Scottish hospitality and a highly personalised service. We are here to make your stay a most pleasant and memorable one! Our guesthouse combines excellent and friendly service with the charm of a listed building rich in heritage and character. The Manor House is particularly known for its beautifully restored dining room, which is open to guests every evening. Afternoons can be enjoyed on the terrace with majestic views of Oban Bay and beyond. Alternatively, you can take a stroll through the garden with its Georgian-inspired layout, keeping the spirit of a naturalistic park and pleasure ground alive. In front of the building you can find our private waterfront access and discover the old oyster bed. The open fire in the drawing room invites you to indulge in the opulence of the early years of the house whilst drinking afternoon tea accompanied by small delights. Find us in the adjoining bar, the perfect place for a wee dram to round off an unforgettable day. All our common areas face the garden and offer stunning views over Oban Bay, the adjacent islands, the mountains of Morvern and the Isle of Mull. Our period-style bedrooms are tastefully decorated, and all have ensuite facilities. Oban is easily accessible by many modes of transport. The Manor House is located on the south shore of Oban Bay in an enviable position with gardens accessing the sea and only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, the ferry, bus and rail terminals. Despite its small size, Oban is the largest town in Argyll and The Isles and is known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’ and the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. The most outstanding feature of Oban is McCaig’s Tower, the Colosseum-lookalike, which stands above the town overlooking the bustling fishing port. Testament to its Gaelic heritage, Oban is considered the home of the Royal National Mod, first held here in 1892, a festival of Scottish Gaelic literature, song, art and culture. Annual Highland Games, the Argyllshire Gathering, are also held in the town. The Manor House is an owner run hotel supported by a dedicated team with strong values. We are proud to be a part of its tremendous heritage and understand the importance of preserving the taste and style of this elegant Georgian house as an integral element of the experience offered. At the same time, we are committed to protecting and preserving our environment. Bowing to heritage and nature, we let this tastefully maintained and radiant manor take centre stage and aim to make it a comfort zone that fits with our commitment to sustainability, sourcing regional products and social integration in Oban, Argyll and Bute and the Western Islands. We are here for you. This is our mission. It drives us every day and is where we take our motivation from. We, the owners, have spent two and a half decades travelling and living around the globe before settling in Scotland, which we found to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Scotland's breath-taking landscapes, rich culture and heritage has worked its charm on us and will hopefully do the same to you, our guests! You are invited to contact us prior to, during and after your trip – we are only too happy to assist, and can do so in English, French or German. We value the benefits of being a local business. We aim to promote and support products and services from local sources within and beyond our business. By doing so, we work in close and trusted partnership with the finest local producers and suppliers, emphasising fairness and sustainability. Excellent quality, freshness of local produce and integrity of the source are a fundamental part of the dining experience we create. Many of our producers steeped in local tradition can be visited while you explore the area, offering rich insights into the customs of the region and bringing you to some of the most amazing places in Scotland.
We had a great two night stay at The Manor House. The staff are so helpful and the room was very comfortable. There is a good choice of breakfast (we didn't eat in the hotel in the evening) Although you are near the centre of the town the hotel is in a quite area with wonderful views of the bay, Mull and Kerrera.

Lovely rooms but pay the extra for a sea view. Lovely swimming pool and steam room. Food is excellent. Buffet breakfast well worth the price. Ate 4 times in the evening as the quality of food was excellent. Staff really helpful. Special mention to Ben. Spotlessly clean and beautiful views.

Enjoyed a three night stay in The Columba Hotel. If you are looking for a bespoke modern hotel, this hotel is not for you!!! It is a very old Victorian building, still featuring much of the original acretecture. The beautiful ceiling cornices and the double gated lift adds to the charm of the hotel. The lovely manager and all his staff, make the stay a very enjoyable experience. The twin room in the turret was excellent, clean and had fantastic views from three different angled windows. Breakfast was plentiful and good choices. Situated beside the marina is certainly an added bonus, with plenty activity of boats, yachts and cruisers, coming and going. Also great to see all the ferries heading to and from the Islands. All in a very happy few days we're spent at this hotel.

New modern accommodation in the heart of Oban. Family - owned property, which has been fully refurbished and designed to attract you.
Newly refurbished hotel with decent sized room, a massive bed and feather pillows (big plus). Vey good shower and toiletries supplied. Free car parking at the rear (though limited and with the usual number of selfish parkers who take up two spaces - be better if they were marked). No evening meals and breakfast had to be pre-booked which is not a problem. Very good breakfast with a good choice. Lovely coffee and hot toast. The only downside was that there only seemed to be one person on duty and they disappeared at times so reception and the bar were unmanned with rather longer waiting times than is reasonable for a hotel of this category.
