In La Toscana we have 15 years of experience, and we are constantly innovating our menu, we now have a fixed menu and additionally use a specialty menu of the month depending on season. We handle the highest quality in our ingredients to make delicious di
We crossed La Toscana, a lovely restaurant with excellent service, located in Jalatlaco just a few blocks east of El Llano Park, off our list last year after management installed several, perpetually-on, flat screen TVs, and started playing an annoying mix of mostly American top 40. We returned to see if there had been any changes and, alas, the TVs are still on (no sound at least) and the waiter turned down the music when we requested it, in the nearly empty restaurant. The restaurant itself is so lovely and elegant that the TVs and music are very discordant. Classical, or Oaxacan music, would be much more fitting. Sit at a table on the right side, away from the speakers and TVs to lessen the impact. That said, we tried the pizza for the first time and enjoyed it. The pizza caprese was large enough for two people to share, and had a very nice sauce, slices of mozzarela, pepperoni, halved grape tomatoes, fresh basil, and olive oil. The crust was very thin and crispy after baking in a wood fired oven. La Toscana provides a large bread basket of interesting artesanal rolls and bread sticks, with herbed butter and two salsas. The waiter brought us a bowl of freshly grated parmesan cheese when we requested it (no charge). Last year, there was a charge (unstated on the menu) for the bread basket. There wasn't yesterday, and the breads really are lovely. Service is very attentive. We always used to get the steaks but decided on the pizza yesterday afternoon. The menu selections have changed so I can't report on any other current choices. Prices are high, equal to or higher than Casa Oaxaca and Los Danzantes, but, in the past, food quality and presentation very quite good. Pizzas are a good value: the Caprese was 117 pesos. On Sundays, the restaurant is open until 7:00 Pm, so it's an option on a day when many other restaurants are closed.

'm a long-time resident of Oaxaca, and for me this venue, with its Venezuelan touch, is a very welcome addition to the already bountiful inventory of excellent restaurants in the city. I had the Triada de Arepas (MX$189), one of my companions had the Risotto de epazote y camarones al azafrán (169), and my other table mate had the Asado negro del chef (169). They were all delicious and nicely presented. The ambience is plain, but pleasantly decorated with nice artwork on the walls. The space is smallish, but the six bare tables are reasonably well spaced. The chairs, however, we found uncomfortable. (One of my personal pet peeves.) The biggestâand only serious negative is the noise. The sounds inside the restaurant bounce off the hard walls. But what is worse is the location right on the corner of two heavily-trafficked streets, including buses and, of course, the frequent cars and motorcycles with loud or no mufflers. Our conversations were often drowned out. However, the positives of the superb food far outweigh the annoying noise. We will certain go back and recommend this eatery to our friends.

Nice spanish restaurant with all the trimmings (chorizo, fabada, jabugo, cheese), good beers and mezcal. Was pleasantly surprised with their Thanksgiving dinner. Very succulent turkey, etc. The terrace is great, good music, young crowd. Service is slow but so it is almost everywhere in Oaxaca

After a couple of weeks on the road we wanted an Italian salad with chicken. This restaurant did a nice goats cheese salad and also did a main chicken dish. When we asked for the salad to be done with strips of chicken they made no problem and produced just what we wanted. Life saving!

This tiny restaurant located near "Parque el Llano" offers a break from Mexican cuisine. After trying different delicacies offered in Oaxaca, we decided to eat something different. We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor and the reviews given were quite convincing. I agree with many of them, "Musaka" dish is awesome and the mint tea is quite perfect after a long walking day. You'll sleep like a baby! Prices are reasonable and service is great.

Mexita es un restaurante de cocina SurItaliana, de antiguas origines Napolitanas.
Our group dropped in here, and was seated promptly with no issues, although there was no table large enough in the outdoor section of the restaurant. We ordered wine, and two pizzas, which were ample for a group of five. The house special was a mushroom and jamon pizza which was a garlic lovers' delight. We also had a three cheese pizza, which was excellent. Great place to eat.

We ate dinner here on the spur of the moment. Service was very friendly. Our waiter was practicing his English and it was very good and he was very pleasant and helpful. appetizers/salads were good and nicely presented. We ordered the Osso Bucco which was good but a little dry. They had a wood fired pizza oven and I might try that the next time.
