Looking for a tropical Mexican fishing village with relaxing beaches, oceanfront seafood bars and restaurants, unspoiled reefs for diving and snorkeling, and waves suitable for championship surfing? Puerto Escondido has all that plus the Laguna de Manialtepec mangrove lagoon for tours combining kayaking, boating, bird-watching, and swimming in phosphorescent waters. Stop in one of the hotels near the beach for a drink or take the family horseback riding. A small freshwater lagoon at the mouth of the river, Rio Rigadillo, marks the border with Playa Marinero, which has waves suitable for beginning surfers. Snorkel or surf the clear shallow waters beneath the high cliffs surrounding Playa Carrizalillo. High red cliffs, housing, and hotels surround riptide-plagued Playa Bacocho, which is good for long romantic beach walks and sunsets. For more adventure, dive Pressure Point’s tectonic plate fault lines or Punta Colarada’s volcanic overhangs, ledges, and lava rock swimthroughs. If you are lucky you will see lobsters, stingrays, moray and snowflake eels, barracudas, yellow tangs, parrotfish, and puffers.

The only great viking hall at Puerto Escondido with the most delicious and huge burgers. A place to visit with nordic hungry and thirst at Rinconada. Informal and rocker ambient with the most profesional service and the best meals quality. Come and try th
We had a nice salad with "papa's cambray" (baked potatoes with lime and garlic) and a veggie burger (fried vegetables in a bun). Both were very tasty. From 19:00 to 20:00 it is happy hour for cocktails. The Margaritas are good and decent sized. The music is 80's 90's alternative which we like. All in all a pleasant experience, and we'll definitely be back. Decent tables and chairs (a bit hard) and a fun owner.

Somos un restaurante bar familiar de cortes a las brasas, ofrecemos un ambiente natural y fresco, rodeado por árboles de almendra de amplia sombra y vasta vegetación, con música suave de fondo y el sonar de nuestras cascadas.
Charming, open, palapa roof style dining, completely off the Rinconada roads. Surrounded by greenery and clever hardscaping of the garden area. Impeccably clean.Delicious, carefully presented local meals and generous tasty ribeye. One of the few places you get great fresh veggies with your meal. The charros soup is generous and yummy. Arrachera (flank steak) is generous and not tough. Knowledgeable about their excellent choice of mezcal.Crazy busy on the few (advertised) music nights. Otherwise relaxing and reliable. Not sure why it is a secret. We have a wonderful experience every time

Best BBQ in Puerto served up with some good live music most nights. Home of the Puerto Blues Festival 2010 Jan to March
Definitely go for the ribs. They may not constitute "authentic Oaxacan" cuisine, but they're delicious. The bartender is also quite competent, and the tables & chairs in the sand are reasonably comfortable. The beach is inviting and the service is charming, but the real draw is the music. We heard the nonagenarian trumpeter who played with Santana at Woodstock -- he's still got it (most of it, anyway) and had a great jazz ensemble to back him up.

A bit enclosed with uncomfortable seating and what feels like backpackers serving you, this feels like a so-so placeThe menu has staple Thai such as satay and rhom kha soup, as well as housecurry. The taste is however less Thai with more sweetness than sting and rather absent lemongrass.Drinks are cold and served with plenty of ice though

This place seemed tired and over-rated to us. Although the snapper was decent, all the accompanying sides were poor. The menu mentioned an elaborate potatoe dish, but the indifferent, bored waiter said all they had available were fries. The fries were inedible, cooked in poor quality oil. The salad was bland.Micheladas were good.

This place has moved into bigger space, still on the road leading down to Zicatela beach. The menu is small and made up by tacos, served x3 and either vegetarian, seafood or meat. Tortillas are fried and the taco piled high with whatever you ordered, fresh cabbage avocado and cream. Sauce served on the side. Chile de arbol sauce particularily good!Service is accomodating, allowing you to mix and match tacos. If peckish, share one order, if hungry get one each!
