Discover Restaurants offering the best Wine Bar food in Biarritz, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. A stylish beach town on France’s southwestern coast, Biarritz was once the vacation spot for nobility and is now Europe’s surfing capital. It’s experienced a tourist renaissance—summers are busy. Biarritz lacks the Riviera’s glitz, but you’ll see affluent vacationers in designer gear and surfers in flip-flops, and hear French, Spanish and Basque. The Grande Plage is the center of the action. Behind it, visit the restored, Art Deco casino and wander the streets down to the old port to the west.

We stayed for a week in Biarritz and tried on two occasions to order an after dinner drink here. The first time we were refused as we were told there was a private party. We tried again tonight on our last night in Biarritz. We had a lovely dinner in a nearby restaurant and wanted a nightcap before heading back to the hotel. It was 22.40 when we arrived with a lot of people drinking outside. The website listed it as open but again we were refused a drink claiming they were closing. Do not waste your time.

We popped in for dinner, after reading the comments on here. Compared to nearby Spain, France and especially Biarritz is overpriced, but Laketuas menu is reasonable priced and the food was good. One wee point, another user suggested she had never seen a burger served in a crust, my son had and enjoyed it, its a ciabatta roll!!! My wife had duck which she enjoyed, I had seafood risotto which was reasonably ok. They have Leffe beer on draft which-is expensively nice. Pretty decent eats in an expensive town.

It is a bit tricky to find, on a side street and downstairs: a true "cave." However the atmosphere is charming - brick walls and tables on wine barrels - and our service was good. Lots of interesting tapas and daily specials on a hard-to-read board. We started with sangria for a change (good), then had gazpacho. I liked it, my husband thought it needed crunchy vegetables. We had wonderful sea bass with a colorful carrot puree. Dessert was a bit-too-sweet caramel mousse.

We came back three times. Not expensive in Biarritz terms. We had the prawns in garlic, grilled steak, octopus, fresh tuna - all griddled. They have a large selections of mantaditos on display for smaller snacks. A huge selection of wines. Atmosphere is nice and is usually buzzing.

According to the sign on the door and Trip Advisor this place was open. When we arrived we were told simply « fermée ». No désolée or explanation, just brusque clear off this lunch time. Having been past it a few times since, it looked empty on each occasion. Negative review.
