This little place is a treasure. Located overlooking Erromardie Beach, it is an open-air joint, which makes it very dependent on weather. But when the weather is good, wow! We went there for breakfast and despite it being outdoors it has the cosiest feel to it. Staff are wonderful. Breakfast is typically continental but they do good egg muffins. Not the cheapest place, but really a lovely way to have a meal with friends. Highly recommended if the weather is good and you're in the area.

En un entorno bucólico. Varios ambientes, gran salón, comedor, bar, terrazas. Cocina tradicional vasca y parrilla.
Happened across this simple cantina on a day's drive through Basque Spain - a basic menu of tapas and several delicious looking tortillas on display. Drank local wine, ate croquettes of jam and salt cod, the carnivore among us loved the slices of gelatinous pigs trotters and I adored the flash-fried tiny squid. The baccalau tortilla topped with fried green peppers was the pick though! The helpful waitress spoke enough English to make up for our complete lack of Spanish and really worked at making sure we understood each other and got what we wanted. Highly recommended!

This small cafe is close to the railway station and car parks but only a few minutes away from the centre. The staff were very welcoming and patiently explained the available lunchtime menu options, as we have only basic French language skills. The food was lovely, we had sandwich wraps and baguettes followed by their delicious lemon meringue pudding. The cost was very reasonable compared to other establishments around the central square area, highly recommended.Hello, Thanks so much for this nice commentary about our Martxuka. We are glad that you enjoyed our homemade lunch and "verrine citron meringée" and we hope to see you again one day. Thanks again. Adélaïde (Martxuka)

Very smart inside and out. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Large choice of drinks that were quickly served even when busy. Great choice of tapas style dishes. We particularly enjoyed the brochette de boeuf with bearnaise sauce and gambas dishes. Sardines was tasty but unusually served in the tin, very novel. Highly recommended and will be our first choice if we return.
