Happened across this simple cantina on a day's drive through Basque Spain - a basic menu of tapas and several delicious looking tortillas on display. Drank local wine, ate croquettes of jam and salt cod, the carnivore among us loved the slices of gelatinous pigs trotters and I adored the flash-fried tiny squid. The baccalau tortilla topped with fried green peppers was the pick though! The helpful waitress spoke enough English to make up for our complete lack of Spanish and really worked at making sure we understood each other and got what we wanted. Highly recommended!

We ate here on easter monday, as it was about the only restaurant that was open in Hondarribia. The set menu (including wine) was around 25 EUR, which is quite cheap. You get however what you pay for, as the food is quite basic. The tapas at the bar did seem nice however.

The wife and I visited here for lunch as the Bar Zeko is closed on Mondays and we were very glad we gave it a go. The menu is fairly traditional brasserie fayre but with both a boeuf tartare and chips and burger looking promising. Instead we went for the âhumour du chefâ menu for 10 euors. A wonderfully creamy and cheesy risotto with fruits de mer and 6 succulent gambas was the main dish which was followed by an equally delectable chocolate gateau with ice crème. Coffe was a tad weak for my liking but the Pelfoth beer on tap made up for it. 2 menus and one coffee and one beer was 26 euro. Well worth going back to.
