Back again and once more we had a lovely evening. A glass of chilled soup & then on to the buffet starter which was a varied as ever, we've learned to pace ourselves so we can enjoy all the courses. Stuffed tomato's for one and a steak for me, both beautifully cooked and presented, plus of course proper home made chips. The desert was a lemon & raspberry concoction. Sponge base, cream, lemon sponge & then a layer of raspberry mouse on top. Looked very pretty and tasted great. Great service as always.

We were hunting for a place to eat and found this gem. It was just so good. Nice attentive staff who were pleasant throughout. It makes such a difference. The food was great. My starter was an assiette de fruits de mer. Best plate os shellfish I have had for years. Plenty of food, good wine menu and a nice ambience. I would return if in the atea

Dans une jolie maison Charentaise, ce restaurant gastronomique a été aménagé de manière conviviale avec plusieurs petites salles a manger.Superbe terrasse et jardin aux beaux jours
En route to La Rochelle, we stopped here for lunch and were generally glad we did. The welcome was genuinely kind and the restaurant was quite attractive. The menu is ambitious. Since we were traveling and have been having many large meals we opted for just a main course, dessert and a glass of wine.Sea bass fillets served on a bed of risotto with white and green asparagus was tasty, but the large white vegetables were not easy to cut with a fish knife! They tasted fine, but it was an awkward moment. So too, a lemon/pineapple dessert with a lovely sorbet encased ina tasty glacee'. The glacee' also was a problem for the knife. I had to turn it on its side, and it still was like trying, to cut peanut brittle with a knife. Tasty, but awkward.Would be happy to return and try other dishes from the chef. Note, there is metered pay parking on the fairly busy street.

We have been coming here for several year and were delighted to see our favourite maitre'd, still in residence after the change of owner/chef. The weekday lunch was superb, all served, and presented so well - in smart surroundings, it' s a steal at e18. It certainly remains one of our two favourite restaurants in Saintes.A couple of minor changes not for the better was there was no choice of entrée on the fixed menu and the offer of wines by the pitcher is no longer available. Shame as a 50cl carafe is perfect for 2 over lunch while with 4 we can have a low cost choice of wines to compliment our choice of food. Plus it keeps our costs down for lunch and probably gives an enhanced turnover to the restaurant? The service, perfect, and the great food, keeps the overall rating of 5 stars despite my little moan.

Another beautiful meal for us at Restaurant Clos des Cours in Saintes (our third visit). Their subtle use of high quality ingredients (scallops, crab, langoustines, their not-to-be-missed home-smoked beef etc.) and skillful use of flavours are a winning combination. The hit of the evening for me was the chocolate dessert, classy evidence that the patron, Jean-Luc, started his training as a pastry chef with Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. His partner Virginie (with excellent English) runs a relaxed but highly efficient front-of-house . A little touch of Michelin class at a very modest prix fixe of â¬31, starters, mains and dessert; don't miss this little gem in Saintes

This was one of the most unusual restaurants I visited on my recent trip to Charentes-Maritime.We had been looking for a Mexican restaurant (one of our number was a vegetarian and she was looking for something spicy and veggie) in the region but there are none to be found in the vicinity however we noticed there were some Quesadillas etc on the menu here when we looked it up on Trip Advisor. When we got there we discovered the Quesadillas all contained meat (they don't do Veggie very much in France) but they did do pizza too so our veggie was happy.Anyway, the menu is great for a mixed party as we were with some nice French options for some (me) and pizza's, burgers etc for the people who just want to eat what they eat at home.Waiting staff were very nice and very patient with all our fussy grown up kids (18-23) and their request for various pizzas etc "sans" this that or the other. It is a very modern setting and a large restaurant and seems to attract hen parties ( there were 3 there on the night we visited) but all handled very well.Food tasted great, was delivered promptly and was at a reasonable price.Ideal for non French visitors to the town of Saintes.

A little way from the town centre but well worth the walk. Very high quality food at a very very good price. We'd gone for a family celebration and where very impressed by the food, service and value. For 26 euro's you get three courses plus a very good amuse bouche. In our case a fish pate with toasts. The home made FG starter was amazing with really big portions. Overall offers great value for money andTh somewhere we'll visit again.

We were delighted with the exceptional meal and superb service which we found at this restaurant. Easy to find opposite the Saint Eutrope Church(world heritage listed) with easy parking. The fixed price lunch at approx. e20 is a steal for the stunning and innovative menu, started with more than an amuse bouche, a starter in its own right, of a small soup and marinated fresh tuna, superb trout mouse, again with a twist, choice of two main courses to satisfy both the meat and fish lovers, and choice of a dessert or cheese, the dessert lovers swooned while my cheese dish of 5 different cheeses, a different type of bread, and a chutney was exceptional. You could tell that the ingredients were all fresh. Brilliant service added to the pleasure. The chef, Alain, who visited diners after we had finished so obviously takes a pride and a delight in his craft. Another review said it was the best in Saintes, without a doubt, and very limited competition in the whole of Charente Maritime(we live here).

My wife and I paid a visit for Sunday lunch. We reserved a table on the terrace with a view of the gardens and lakes. The atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing. We chose the menu de jour (32 euros) with 3 choices for each course and were very impressed with the standard and presentation of the food . The service was impeccable and courteous. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We will be returning regularly.

The three of us had the set price lunch (choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts for â¬20). Excellent quality of ingredients combined with cooking talent produced a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. One to re-visit. Keep it up Michael!
