New in Rochefort, La Scala Italian family restaurant and contemporary, in the spirit of the beautiful Venetian houses, chic and colorful, never stilted, a place full of warmth of this country that inspires the dolce vita. On the ground floor three intimat
I completely agree with Hyperion24's review. We went to this restaurant for lunch on a February Saturday and it was like being transported back 20 years to when you could go into any restaurant in the country and get a well-cooked meal at a sensible price. After a week in over-priced and overrated La Rochelle restaurants it was a welcome change. Le chef-patron emerged from his kitchen to shake hands and accept compliments at the end of the meal and his wife looked after us very well front of house. The food was plentiful, freshly and expertly cooked to order. Very definitely worth the walk up the main street to find it.

French bistro opened monday/friday lunch. Daily home Made menu. Friendly service and tasty meals... from 9⬠to ...
Very good place for business lunch. Good service in French or English, pleasant menu choices, both plat de jour and a la carte. Great fish dishes, interesting starters and a great selection of desserts. Nice outdoor area near the artificial lake.

We stumbled across this restaurant on a day trip to rochefort & it happened to be the birthday of one of our party. It was full of locals having lunch - a good sign. Service was fantastic friendly considering we had 4 kids with us. 3 of the adults had the 3 course lunch menu for 18 euros and it was simply delicious - a real highlight of our holiday!

You will appreciate the gardens all around, the river just in front of the restaurant settled between the magnificent monument of the Corderie Royale (ropes workshop of the XVIth century) and the site where the Hermione (La Fayette's frigate) is being reb
Sat at this restaurant for a few hours over a lovely lunch, eventually... at first we just wanted to order a drink but were quickly moved from our table to around the back of the restaurant as we couldn't have a drink at a table that was for food.... when we were finished our drink we decided it was time to eat so were allowed back to another table (not the nice shaded table we'd chosen first but one in full glare of the sun). The food was really nice but the service was really slow and the waiter seemed exasperated with our little knowledge of french... maybe not a place for foreign non french speaking tourists....Dear TMH1_12,Many thanks for taking the time to review our restaurant on tripadvisor and we are truly sorry that you had a bad experience during your lunch. We need feedback so we can work on our faults and will be speaking with the staff involved on your review. And hope to welcome you back to the Longitudes again some day.Kind Regards

Its difficult to know what star rating as it is a good little restaurant but it is not producing food at a level above many other small good french restaurants(lunch at e12 for 2 courses, 1/4 carafe of wine at e4). Service was above the norm with an excellent young man serving who certainly raised the star level on service. Both plats of either pork or fish were really nice, we would go again, but not make a special trip, good if visiting Rochefort opposite the road island just after the marina going into town, lots of easy parking.

The Restaurant O'gabier and all his crew welcome you on its site. Everyone is on board, the tour can begin! Wishing you a pleasant visit by browsing our pages, we will be happy to welcome you to our table and to serve you a good meal.
O' Gabier is situated at a very small, 'picture postcard' like Marina, main seating is outdoors. We had Moules Au Rochefort to start, served in the traditional black enamel pot, they were to die for good! Then we chose the Sole, simply grilled, came with roasted veg and fries, that was delicious too, and the veg was cooked to perfection....we skipped dessert and went straight for coffee and Liquors. We had a bottle of Dry Muscadet wine which was excellent, (French wine is our favourite) it's not reasonably priced, it cost â¬49 each for two courses, without the wine, we paid â¬26.30.Fab dining experience, all aspects of... But beware of Mosquitos they ate us alive so remember to use repellent!

Brilliant but limited menu - I canât complain about the food, and they dealt with allergies easily, they also gave the children food Iâd be happy to eat myself (always a plus!) but the menu was quite restrictive. The wine was fabulous though. It doesnât do itself justice from the outside I would say that, it has a lovely atmosphere inside. Happily come back here again.

You can tell an excellent restaurant if they have interesting starters as they require a little more finesse and imagination a seaweed s most restaurants have similar main dishes often generic in their product and presentation the exception being high end restaurantsThis restaurant did not disappoint - we had three starters all reasionably priced and of highest quality - hot oysters in a seaweed cream sauce, hot and cold foie gras to name twoIt is a small seating space and so is intimate and the service very personalCan only recommend

Our second visit to this restaurant. This time for dinner. The food was excellent and the service also. We drank a very agreeable Charentais Sauvignon Blanc. The lunch menu is extraordinarily good value. It is essential to book in advance.
