Were lucky to get a table the first night without booking. Good local wines and the communication between staff and us was funny but effective as neither spoke each other's language well. Meat , pasta dishes very good. I had snail piazza which I loved.Went back the next night , food just as good but they were a chef short so a little delay but worth waiting for.Merci de votre visite ainsi que de vos commentaires ce fut agréable de vous recevoir et de vous porter satisfaction, à une prochaine fois certainement sur lâile de ré

First, what it is not: A restaurant for families with kids (who would rather have McDonalds) Not for Vegans, Picky eaters, Gluten freebies or other food Nazis. The interior is super cute with a nautical theme, I love the tables with real sand and shells under the glass. They use lots of local ingredients including fresh Salicorns and the locally grown small potatoes, and of course fresh fish and other seafood. They have daily specials based on what was fresh at the moment. We both had the fish and it was excellent, tasted as if grilled over a wood fire. The octopus starter was also very enjoyable. They do get booked up, so make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Would also not be a bad idea to look at their website to familiarize yourself with the menu. Good friendly service. We will be back next year.

The food and the ambiance at this restaurant were excellent. The décor with all the little lights is delightful. The service was good once we were seated, however it was disappointing that, as we were 10 minutes early for our table we were asked to come back at the right time. This meant waiting outside with our 81 year old mother which was not ideal. Had we been allowed to wait at our table we would have no doubt ordered more drinks .

Having visited St. Martin we wanted to find a less busy place for lunch. Trip advisor led us here... A lovely French meal, great staff member, very tasty food, pudding was amazing. Highly recommended.

Located 20 meters from Gros Jonc beach , come and take a detour to cool off , enjoy one of our ice creams or our homemade pancakes . Raspberry Mojito , smoothies , squeezed orange ... . the port of La Rochelle fish a la plancha, grilled meats selected by
Be careful how you order food - my husband asked for medium rare and it was still mooing - the French way is erring on the side of blue! That aside we had 2 good meals in there - mains, desert and wine for 2 people £60Dear Jackie G,Thank you for your mail. We will be carefull next time for the meat.Kind regards.

Iâm always delighted to return to this lovely restaurant and last night did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, beautifully cooked and presented; the wine was perfectly selected for us and the service was, as always, friendly, helpful, professional and welcoming. I canât recommend this wonderful restaurant in le bois plage enough- a must visit!

Managed to get a seat on a busy Tuesday night.Service was more than acceptable considering the number of diners!Crepes were excellent and something totally different and unexpected from what we English would expect as a main evening meal!(and catered for vegetarians). Cost was reasonable considering location.Staff were very helpful (particularly the young male waiter)and assisted with our basic French! The restaurant is by the harbour and a nice to watch the sun go down.Great visit..Merci!!

We were so grateful to have been accommodated without a booking for our family celebration. We were shown to a lovely table. Disappointingly for one of our party, they were unable to have their choice of food or drink (apparently there had been a fire in the kitchen so fish and chips were off the menu). Then after waiting for our starters for 45 mins, our mains turned up. We asked the waiter but they didnât know what had happened, so we agreed to keep our mains as we were so hungry. When we went to pay the bill our starters were still on there. The food was fine.

L'Ocean is an excellent restaurant with very good food and a lovely ambience. There is an inside area and terrace - you can take your dog!

We chose this restaurant as they had put a list of fish available on their door rather than the highly limited offerings in other restaurants. One has to consider that this is up an alley off the port but the interior is stunning. On a beautiful night in September it was, of course, outside in the lane for us.The staff were lovely and highly attentive and service brilliant. We looked at the menu and it was a first to see that all starters were in double figures!! We decided on a plate of mussels to share believing they must be very large indeed. Certainly the mussels werenât but very enjoyable other than quite a few that did not open and a number with crushed shells- surely these should have been filtered.I ordered the sole and herself the Cote de Veau. The sole meunière arrived with a cup of potato mash (which was in fact delicious) and that was it! No vegetables but some finely chopped parsley! It was alright but nothing out of the ordinary. The Veal was also alright but unfortunately arrived with a similar cup of mash and a mushroom/onion gravy that would have graced a beef dish. Unfortunately it completely masked the subtle taste of veal!Herself decided she would go big for desert and not have a Creme caramel but Grand Mereâs Creme Caramel - exactly the same but bigger!!It was alright meal but it was more expensive than any meal we had on the harbour side looking at the boats and people walking by whereas, here, it was the back of houses and an hotel!!I have not included anything about the wine as that was our choice.....No, we will not be back here and probably not to Saint Martin either! Parisienne Plage has run its course for us......
