Enjoyed our 20th anniversary dinner here on 9/20/17. The server was wonderful and the food an excellent value. I enjoyed the filet mignon, which was done perfectly. My husband had the tenderloin tips, which were tender and very flavorful (kind of spicy though). Highly recommended!

Have dined or desserted here many times in recent years. The staff is friendly and accomodating, the furniture and outdoor tables just invite you to sit down and enjoy your food. Recently I arrived after closing, and they took pity on me and sold me a piece of chocolate cake anyway. Sandwiches and entrees are excellent. Check out all the different rooms and nooks, too.. This place is special to me as the first restaurant I visited after deciding to eat more vegetarian ... the non-meat lunch I had got me thru some initial anxiety about my decision, and its held for 5 years.

Our family came over here to the "St Olaf side of town" from Carleton for brunch on a Sunday. It was great for breakfast/brunch. We came on the early side and were glad we did. We did not have any trouble getting a table for five at around 10 am on a Sunday. When we left after 11 am it was starting to fill up. We all shared an Ole bun to start, which is a cinnamon bun with a caramel top. It is very sweet and a bit over the top. Unfortunately, it filled up our boys and neither of them ate their breakfasts. There are no kids portions and one of them ordered the biscuits and gravy which has chunks of sausage in it. He ate two bites. The other ordered two pancakes with blueberries and he ate about one bite. We had to bring those two orders home. The rest of us did better on our orders. There are a number of Eggs Benedict options. I had mine with spinach. My husband had a make-your-own omelet, chose his own filling and declared it was great. My daughter tried the huevos rancheros and liked it. There are many things you can get ala cart or on the side, including eggs, a sausage, the ole bun, etc. The only thing I did not like was the grapefruit juice. It was from a container and was sour and bland. It would be nice if the juices were fresh squeezed or those options were a bit fresher, more natural, etc. Otherwise, it was a great brunch. There is ample parking next door and on the street.

They have the best bread!!! Their location has changed though and they are not on Professional Drive anymore. They're on Hwy 3 just on the north side of town. Big sign on lower level of building!

We recently visited Northfield and because we enjoyed the James Gang Eatery so much in the past, we decided to eat there again -- and we were not disappointed. The place is charming, the staff is welcoming, and the food & drinks are great. My wife and I sat at a small table for two in the front window, where we people-watched while sharing a wonderful BLT-avocado sandwich and drank Sangria.

When we were traveling in Minnesota this summer, we were told by family that we should stop in Northfield as the town is a scenic college town. While we were visiting Northfield, we stopped for lunch at Hogan Brothers.
We found that the restaurant is one of the main restaurants on the main street and was easy to find. The restaurant is in an older turn-of-the century building. The interior of the building has some beautiful woodwork and antique lighting,
The restaurant was a bit crowded, and we waited for 15 minutes, and eventually found a place to sit down. The restaurant was busy with a lot of activity, but there was a friendly accommodating quality to the servers and restaurant staff. The wait for food was worth it! Once, we received our food order, we realized why so many people stopped at Hogan Brothers. We ordered up ham sandwiches, the soup of the day, and coffee. The sandwiches and soup were freshly made and tasty and the coffee was rich, dark, and mellow. The food was excellent! We realized why so many people stopped at Hogan Brothers.
When we return to Northfield, we would return to Hogan Brothers for another meal. I would also return for just a cup of coffee and a chance to talk with the locals about life in a small town in Minnesota.

Walking in the door we were greeted by a friendly smiling face. Seconds later we had water. After walking out of the Tavern Restraunt because we couldn't get waited on this was a nice surprise. Casual atmosphere with booths avaiable. Love Rock shrimp for an appetizer, but you may have to ask, I don't think it's on the menu, but it's baddered shrimp with some heat to it. I also have ordered the spring rolls which also very tastee. We both had the (Yake Soba) noodles which were yummy.. Fried rice with shrimp or vegies is good too with the Yummy sauce. You won't go away hungry. I've ordered take out for small groups at work too.

Basil's is an old and old style pizza joint. Family run and doing a great job. Thin crust pizza with many choices for toppings. The simple shrimp pizza is light and satisfying.

Cuisine of India located in the Archer House River Inn in the heart of Northfield, Minnesota. We serve a selection of traditional Indian dishes as well as several of our own creation. Wine and beer available. Lunch buffet. Rang Jamaye! Enjoy!
My daughter and I had dinner after a day of visiting Carleton College. The food was outstanding, perfect after a day of exploring. I am a carnivore, but had the vegetarian dish of cauliflower and potato in tomato sauce (I asked for spicy) and my daughter had the lamb rack. We would definitely come again!
