We had our lunch here while waiting for our boat trip. The service was great the view was amazing but the food is a bit hard to recommend. The veal was so tough and we weren't even asked how we wanted it cooked. Their drunken cake desert was also amazing. Their staff speaks good English. The place is clean but the table we were sitting in was shaking and everytime we have to slice the veal the whole table shakes. It was a good experience on the place other than the meat we had.

Located close to the bridge, Rufete offers fairly basic meat and fish dishes. No starters available, only bread and olives. No extras, but quite ok and good value for money. The lamb chops were tasy and the rumpsteak ok and large portion. The restaurant has a large wine list, menues available in English and quite good service for a small family restaurant.

The philosophy of Cozinha da Clara is to serve local Portuguese cuisine at its best â simplicity is the key. We also want to include a touch of the familyâs heritage, by adding some of my grandmother, Claireâs favourite recipes. Executive chef, Pedro Card
We were very happy with every aspect of our experience at this restaurant. The patio seating is pleasant with picturesque views of the Douro River and opposing hillside vineyard. It wasn't too hot when we visited, but if you tend to get warm indoor seating looked nice as well. The food was wonderful. Very fresh, with nice combinations and mixtures of flavors. I ordered the risotto, which was wonderful, but not filling enough so I also ordered the octopus. The food was a mixture of traditional and contemporary Portuguese cuisine. We arrived early in our rental car, as there are not a lot of spots in the small parking lot, although I imagine you could park on the street. I saw that some people walked from the cruise ship parked close by.Thank you for the kind words and I am pleased you enjoyed your meal. Parking during the harvest is difficult and we are trying to improve this. We dont get many people from the boats coming to see us as they tend to be all inclusive.

Recommended and booked by our hotel, this restaurant was a great choice. Very helpful staff - with helpful advice. Meals are mainly from the grill served with salad and baked potatoes. We shared a sirloin steak cooked perfectly to our order which was delicious with an excellent house wine to complement it. The restaurant was buzzing midweek and was good value.

This restaurant hit the spot - we fancied something simple and ordered grilled meats, fries and a lovely salad. The portion sizes were extremely generous, and the food was delicious. Service was absolutely charming - we speak no Portuguese, the waitress spoke no English but we managed, helped by Google Translate! We ordered water, two half-bottles of wine, two mains, fries for two, a salad for two, a pudding, two coffees and two ports and spent 32 Euros - really. The Champions' League final was on TV and we were able to keep an eye on the game without it intruding. We ate early and the restaurant was soon full of locals and other tourists. I hope they continue to do well.

We arrived a bit late as our navigation system guided us through gravel roads and wine yards- the direct way - which turned out to be an adventurous drive with steep hills and over a very narrow bridge. When we arrived we found out that there was a normal road as well. Being late the welcome was a bit cold - as cold as the tasting room temperature - but once our guide realized that we had some knowledge on wine she quickly opened up and we had a very interesting tour of the cellar! Everything very modern and clean with a few on the environment. The wine tasting was very enjoyable and we even received a few very good recommendations. To visit a reservation is a must!
