Find out what Portuguese restaurants to try in Viana do Castelo. A self-guided walking tour is the best way to appreciate the stunning architecture of Viana do Castelo. The buildings date from several different centuries so styles vary: highlights include the early 20th-century Basilica of Santa Luzia; the 16th-century fountain and former city hall building at the Praça da República; the gothic Cathedral on the Largo da Matriz; and the Monument to Caramuru and Paraguaçu, built just a few years ago in 2009.

Restaurant can be recommended but I had to go back next day re a bill overcharge. I was kept waiting whilst the proprietress attempted electronic reversals. She eventually accepted my original suggestion of cash but if only she'd offered me a bun or a drink whilst I was waiting, or even a bottle to take away I wouldn't feel so annoyed! ie 1 point off for stupidity!Dear client we totally agree with you if our mistake were on purpose. As soon as you present your bill, we immediately confirm the mistake and refund you.Best regards,O Laranjeira team

We stopped at this place which was filled with locals. We enjoyed their specialties, sandwiches with several types of meat, eggs, cheese, fries and especially the sauce. You really get a refill here. Sangria very tasty Service was cool, prices all good as well.

A misunderstanding that we mustâve been responsible for, between us and our waitress, meant that we waited over an hour to be served the food we ordered. Once rectified, we were served quickly and it (Filet mignon & Presa de Porco) was delicious. It seems a relatively new restaurant but wasnât busy. End of season I guess.

Lovely spot near the water on the plaza. Eat inside or outside. We especially liked the Tasquinha with hamburger and homemade chips (these are potato chips not fries). The bread and sauce are yummy. Also, the chicken lasagna was delicious. They have multiple food and beverage options, something for everyone in your party.

We had a lovely dinner here. The food was outstanding. The service was very attentive. It is centrally located. Reservations are recommended because it is not very big. (While there, they accommodated several groups, but several others were turned away.). It was very peaceful and tastefully decorated.

First of all is not easy to find Louroâs restaurant, however when you arrive and step inside youâre at home...Smiley faces are welcoming you and your guests. Iâve been recommended by a work colleague and visited with work mates and business lunch. Every time I was there, the food was spotless for me and my mates or guests. A place to visit, doesnât matter the reason, business or pleasure... just go and enjoy as much as Iâve been doing it...

In an old warehouse of the tidal dock of Viana do Castelo, they send fresh fish and seafood. More than a restaurant, Tasquinha da Linda is a place of petisqueira vocation.
This place is, by Portuguese standards, expensive. The decor is nice and refined, service is excellent âalthough they let you serve your own wine, which you shouldnât have to do. The fish soup was admirable, one of the absolute best Iâve ever had âand Iâve had quite a few. The main course, a typical âcataplanoâ dish (fish and seafood slowly stewed), was less convincing as the fish came out overcooked. The ice cream at the end was OK but nothing to write home about, and they gave me hazelnut instead of chocolate! The wine list is long and plentiful, and the red Douro wine we picked was excellent.

N'O Botequim we have typical Brazilian snacks, meats from South America, craft beers and traditional drinks. A relaxed and familiar atmosphere, very much in the style of the true Brazilian "Boteco"!
We passed by accident looking for a place for dinner. All restaurants nearby seemed to be closed, except this one. And what a great discovery! Most specialities of this Brazilian restaurant are meat dishes, so with the help of an English speaking waitress (and owner of the place?), we tried one (28 euros for 2 persons). It was delicious!By the way, staff is super friendly and very helpful, but doesn't speak English, except the lady who served us.

Our family with the 2 teenagers enjoyed the modern portuguese food after a couple of traditional dinners. Friendly staff and a relaxed lounge atmosphere. Donât miss the passion fruit sangria! First time we had the Francesinha - a delight if you are not on a diet.
