this is one of the two places in town that have the certified "posta mirandesa" but the person that was serving us seemed like he didnt know what he was doing. the veggies had no flavour and were microwave heated and the meat was well seasoned but was a bit burned on the outside. so if you have a weak team there is no advantage on having the best ingredients. av price per portion 13eur, meal 17eur

We had lunch here end of July, but were rather late (after 1 p.m.), to Portuguese norms. The staff did not like this too much, but as they said we still could eat here, we stayed. Big error ! It took more than an hour to prepare some basic dishes, that - by the way - did not taste too well. When time had come to pay the bill, the owner (or the man that at least behaved as such) was asking higher prices than those indicated on the menu. We never learned the reason why, as he started to shout immediately when I asked a question about it. In the end, we paid not more than the prices on the menu, but we were followed out by a whole parade of rough scoldings. If you ever think about eating here, just step in and watch the man with the big moustache ... and then think again if you really want to stay there. I wouldn't !

Este restaurante está en la parte antigua de Miranda y detrás de la calle principal de tiendas. Muy bueno el bacalao a la Balbina.

As another reviewer has stated, the posta mirandesa, which is a huge veal tenderloin cooked with some very tasty but not overpowering spices, is terrific. The restaurant was jam packed on a Saturday afternoon. We were definitely the only English speakers, but the huge majority were Spanish tourists. The food was very inexpensive, fresh, and tasty. Not a fancy place, but definitely good food at a good price.

We stayed in the hotel two nights but only had one dinner. We would have had two except the restaurant was closed Sunday night. We started with two generously prepared cocktails and proceeded to shrimp & pineapple for my wife, salada de polvo for me. We then shared the perfectly seasoned local steak, which I would call New York strip. The half portions were more than enough. An excellent 13 year old bottle of Esteva complemented our dinner. The bill was extremely reasonable considering the ambience and excellence of the cuisine.

If you find yourself in the northeastern part of Portugal , there isn't a better restaurantin this region. We had lunch in this place when it first opened and waited for over an hour for a table , the line was somewhat lengthy. When we were served the food was regional and superb. It was worth the wait. We have returned since and the place hasn'tchanged.

Massive restaurant, catering for the Spanish shoppers. We did not like our meals; bacalao still very salty, grilled meat nothing special. Mixed salad was best part of our meal. Service bad; the lady that served us had her 10 yr old daughter running around and helping with serving. It looked like there was no supervision or nobody in charge.

We visited this wonderful restaurant just over the Spanish border on a Sunday lunchtime at about 1pm so very early for Portuguese diners thank heavens. There was a small queue which was soon accommodated and to our surprise were greeted by the Portuguese lady owner in perfect English with a Canadian accent! She had spent some time in Canada. The restaurant was full but she found us a table by a window overlooking the valley. We had excellent prawns in garlic followed by beautiful veal steaks of huge proportions. One would have served us both. In hindsight there are half portions. With coffees and beers the bill came to a very reasonable €50. The restaurant does not take bookings or credit cards. Thoroughly recommended.
