Home to both the midnight sun (with constant daylight from April to July) and the northern lights, North Norway is a rugged land of steep mountains, deep fjords and scenic coastline, making it a great place for outdoor adventures like dog sledding, snowmobiling and wildlife safaris. It's also the ancient home of the Sami people, 3,000 of whom live (along with 100,000 reindeer) at Kautokeino, Norway's largest municipality at over 3,700 square miles.

Two friends and I spent one night at the Bodø Hostel and were pleasantly surprised. The three of us shared a four-bed en suite room (economy). The bathroom was of good standard, with toilet, sink and shower (incl. shower gel and hand wash). The bed linen and towels were provided, although we had to make the beds ourselves. There was also a desk, chair and TV screen. Each bed was supplied with a double power outlet and a reading lamp. There was also a shared kitchen on third floor. We checked in after the reception closed and so they emailed us instructions for how to get our room key. When we checked out the following morning, we stripped the beds and put the linen in a basket outside the room as instructed and went handed in the key. The hostel has a central location, with only a short walk to the railway station, ferry, city centre. The airport is only 10 minutes drive away. Overall, very happy with our stay.

Check in off season is all through a drop box. Did not see an actual person. Twin bed room was minimalistic and not super nice, but was comfortable. Shared bathrooms are actually quite nice. Nice well stocked kitchen. Good location in town

Room was nicely designed but very minimal furnitured (no chair, desk, cooler). View was on the parking lot which was messy. Staff was overal friendly but there seemed to lack a certain structure one would expect in a hotel. A modest breakfast ist served on a plate (by a sympathetic British guy) which was okay. The place is also used for venues. The last night there was some party going on which went on till 23:30/0:00. Normally no problem because I have my earbuds with me, but the bass was set so loud that it kept me awake even through my earbuds. The bathroom floor was also vibrating. We also weren't informed that there would be a party and on the website there was nothing planned for that day (8 September) concerning venues. This unfortunately influenced my overall experience (despite nice staff and good pizza) in a negative way, in such manner that I will not recommend this place as a hotel. I wanted to give feedback to the receptionist, but unfortunately there was none at time of departure. Despite an interesting concept and nicely designed rooms, a few necessary elements where lacking (reception, information, and the sauna is not included in the price). For the price we have paid for a double room (176 euro's a night), I kinda felt ripped off after I also had to pay as a hotel guest for the sauna. I hope the place will change some things if they want to present themselves also as a hotel. I wish the place all the best, but at the moment it is not ready to function as a hotel with so many lacking elements for that price.

We spend 5 nights in Solhov end of April 2022. We were a group of 4 french people coming to do Ski Touring. The place is a former boarding school from the beginning of XX century, and the tenants Ingunn and Matthieu have been very respectful of the history of the building. It is huge (3000m2), with cosy rooms and shared Toilets and bathroom. As it would be a waste of energy to overheat the whole building, the corridors can be a bit chilly in winter. We used the Guest kitchen with its comfortable living room to take some rest every day after hiking. Diner was excellent, with local ingredients from the region or from the farm. Matthieu, Ingunn and the staff (hello Candice, Hello Joséphine, Hello Joao) kindly took time to discuss with us. Solhov is very well situated to do ski touring. The Kavrintingen (1289) can be done directly from the hotel, without taking the car. A 30 to 50 minutes ride by car is sufficient to go to the start of the path for Fastdalstinden (1275), Taffeltinden (1388m), and Daltinden (1531).

Really wonderful and cozy! The whole atmosphere is very warm and cozy, feels like home ! With a great common area and small cafe, you feel right at home. We had a private apartment, great size and had everything we needed. Only downside was that it was absolutely freezing despite using the heaters. Unfortunately sauna access is not included in the price (50€ for a 2 person use) (we booked via booking and it mentioned that there was a sauna).

Location: Conveniently located ca 3 km away from the Honningsvåg city center. You can walk there or get there within 5 minutes by car or bike. It’s neighboring the E69 highway, which does not matter noise-wise as there is very little traffic. Living: The quarters are simple but sufficient. We had a double room with 2 single beds. There was even a closet and a small desk. Room temperature is controlled by the guest (standard element) There is breakfast for 75 NOK (2019), which is quite good. Amenities: Self-serve kitchen with all necessary equipment including a fridge. Showers were clean. Same goes for toilets. Everything is a tad old but functional nonetheless. Staff: This is where this establishment truly shines. Staff was beyond helpful and customer satisfaction is lived here. Need a coffee? No problem! (free). Forgot to buy salt, they’ll help you out. Tldr: Excellent place to stay and fairly priced. Could do with some renovations but everything works well. Staff is exceptionally friendly and engaged.

Consigliato!
