A big thanks to Timothy Hagan and his staff at the Peppermill in Dervock. Our Group monthly run today was up to Dervock for Brunch . I had called ahead to reserve seating and gave our numbers to Timothy. We where looked after by very pleasant staff taking our orders and seeing to our requests . Great food with great service i would highly recommend this gem in Dervock . Timothy is a bike lover and this place is great ,easy parking and good coffee . Look forward to our next visit . The Sunday Carvery look especially good but be better to book as it is busy. Good luck Timothy see you real soon .Kyle ThomsonLocal ObserverNorth Down Advanced Motorists.Run Leader.

Went here with a friend recently using a Groupon voucher for afternoon tea. There’s very little room and it’s very warm and stuffy. When we received our afternoon tea it was borderline pitiful. Tiny portions, dry bread & pastries and what’s worse was a menu on our table offering the same afternoon tea for much less! I’d left a negative review on Facebook but it seems I wasn’t the only one left unimpressed by the poor service and food and instead of addressing the issues directly they’ve decided to remove their reviews section which says everything really.

I’ve been going to this cafe for years. It isn’t super modern but it’s very popular and they do great cooked breakfasts, hot and cold food, various hot and cold drinks and a great selection of cakes and sweet treats. It’s not expensive and the staff (owners) are polite and helpful. Filter coffee gets you a free top up! My go to cafe in Ballymoney. I think it puts others to shame, tables are always cleaned down and your not shifting pots to get a table. Never had a bad experience in over 21 years.

Been here twice this week. The new proprietors used to have Sketchers in Bendooragh but took over The Slipway on Monday this week. Familiar furniture and the same good quality of food etc as before. BUT a much better venue, bigger premises, better parking and a much better outlook onto Drumaheglis Marina and the river Bann. They are busy already and I suspect come the good weather again they will be rushed off their feet. Wish them every success must thank their previous landlord for putting up their rent! Think they have the better deal here. You get free top ups too! What’s not to like.

Quick lunch with my wife, plenty of food on offer - we opted for the red pepper and sweet potato soup and glad we did - piping hot and very tasty. Toasted sourdough bread equally good. The decor has had a few comments and we certainly noticed it - I got the impression of people wanting to bring something new to Ballymoney and I hope they fit right in with the more traditional cafes. Will definitely go for the evening meal based on today.

As regular visitors to Ballymoney, we always make a point of popping into A Bite Above for lunch. The quality of the food is outstanding, hot and delicious. We love their Ulster Frys - always cooked to perfection and have a real home cooked flavour. The staff are to be commended for their attentiveness and friendliness. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Ballymoney for lunch - the fact that the restaurant is always jam packed is testament to the fantastic quality of the food.

This little cafe/restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is excellent here. The location is quiet and you’ll never have a problem parking. While I’m happy to give 5/5, it’s worth noting that seating is limited at times. You might not always get in, especially on a Saturday morning. On the few occasions I’ve been there, the moustached gentleman manager, who is clearly a very nice guy, also seems intent on explaining the specials menu to the Nth degree. The specials are already written on the board. In great detail. Just take the order. We know it’s going to be good!
