Armagh is not blessed with a myriad of night time sit in cafes. So JP,S Is an option, being a traditional chippy. You order at counter and pay and food is brought to table when ready. It's always busy and food is of consistent standard. Not Egon ronay but ok for a chippy. Staff are effecient and the wooden cubicles are kept clean.Burgers are really nice and rest of menu is just chippy stuff but fair and not greasy. I recommend it.
Lovely coffee & an array of freshly baked sweet delights are on offer Tuesday-Saturday. Gorgeous breakfasts, good selection of lunch options & Friday Pieday is not to be missed. Savoury & sweet options of pie are presented using local produce. Chef James is a whizz with pastry, he does a wonderful chicken & Ham pie, mouthwatering pear or apple frangipan tart & portions are generous. The welcome is warm in this family run cafe. Afterwards you can wander around the garden centre & shop that holds a super range of wool & fabric. Vintage antiques add to the interest of this great wee spot. See them on Instagram for a peek at other culinary delights!

Dropped in here for a late breakfast as it looked like a fairly trad retro restaurant. On further investigation it wasn't really that but just a rather dated original decor. Anyway it's a cafe so no big deal. We ordered breakfast and the staff although friendly and helpful appeared a bit harassed as a few customers had all come in at the same time. I ordered eggs Benedict which was received with apparent dismay and was informed we may have to wait a bit as they were very busy. My wife ordered poached eggs on toast. Unfortunately, she sent hers straight back as she could hardly get a fork through the eggs. My Benedict was much the same consistency with a lettuce leaf, half a tomato and a splurge of sauce from a jar on top. I was famished so I soldiered on. Asked if we had enjoyed our food we had to tell the truth that no one there could apparently poach an egg, even my wife's replacement was bordering on going solid. The bill was £8 and the waitress gave us £5 refund and apologised. We declined and said that was not necessary. However, the lady in charge returned and insisted we take the refund and apologised rather embarrassed. Full marks to them for trying to make things right but they really need to be able to cook an egg.

My wife and I called here today for some lunch whilst travelling through Armagh. I have eaten here before some years ago so was optimistic it would be good. On entering I noted the food cleanliness marking of '3' which gave me some cause for concern however on seeing the restaurant was about half full we decided to stay.Food on offer ranged from salad/deli to roast dinners however as we just wanted a small snack we opted for the vegetable soup. Two soups arrived with sliced bread. The soup was certainly packed with vegetables but was very sweet and tasteless. When the waitress saw we had left a substantial amount she asked if we did not like it to which I replied no, we didn't, however she simply lifted our dishes and left us.Perhaps the soup was the poorest part on the menu today and everything else was fine however it definitely did not inspire us to return.

Went to Allenâs after an appointment at the Hospital. There were about 6 people in. Went to the counter to order. I ordered a Ham, Cheese and Tomato Toastie. My wife ordered a baked Potato. Apparently out of Baked Potatoes. My wife asked for a fried egg. This was not on the menu. We ordered tea and coffee. When the Toastie arrived it was Ham and Cheese. No tomato. No reason. Staff were under no pressure but seemed to be very busy. Before we left a couple and a young boy arrived. Not sure what they ordered but after 2 attempts they settled on what the cook suggested. Food was OK but not what I ordered. Maybe they were having an Off Day. Will not be back to find out if that was the case.
