I last reviewed the Windrose in April 2018. Just after their recent 2018 refurbishment. Then I gave it a great review. Just visited it tonight with my wife and another couple. All I can say is - it’s even better than the last time. Not sure if it’s had a small facelift ( the privacy glass behind the tables) but the restaurant interior is stunning easily the most impressive in Carrickfergus and matches the best pub/bistros in belfast. The staff were excellent, both in greeting and service. I would also say that the menu choice was even better than the previous menu. What I have found over the years is that they have reduced the menu choices from what was 3-4 pages long menu that was far too big, to a one page menu of first class food. From the crab croquettes to the pate to the ribs and Irish short rib, it was just top class.Really enjoyable meal in a fantastic restaurant.Hi 1STTIMEBERLIN,Thank you so much for your review of The Windrose! It's fantastic to hear that you love our new menu as much as we do!We take great pride in the food and customer service we offer and a lot of thought goes into the decor and menus etc, so it is really fantastic to hear that you have enjoyed it so much.We can't wait to have you back again soon.Kind Regards,The Windrose

A busy Saturday evening but service was speedy, and servers were friendly and helpful. We had the early evening bistro menu which had a reasonable choice, all were generous portions, and all very tastefully presented and tasted as good. The only down side was the presence of two exceptionally noisy young ladies at the table beside us, and who despite being asked to turn down their volume carried on, only being quiet when eating!!

We dropped one Thursday lunchtime and were seated immediately. Orders promptly taken, menu queries answered, local craft beer and wine poured. We had the fish sharing plate, and mussels and chips. Everything was piping hot and really fresh and tasty. They specalise in locally produced craft beers and use fresh local produce as much as possible. We lunch in here every few months and are never ever disappointed. We love it and I think you will too. It’s a great place to relax and while away an hour or so over a leisurely lunch.
