Find out what Contemporary restaurants to try in Craigavon. Craigavon (/kreɪˈɡævən/ kray-GAV-ən; Irish: Creag Abhann) is a planned settlement in northern County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Its construction began in 1965 and it was named after Northern Ireland's first Prime Minister: James Craig, 1st Viscount Craigavon. It was intended to be the heart of a new linear city incorporating Lurgan and Portadown, but this plan was abandoned and less than half of the proposed work was done. Among locals today, "Craigavon" refers to the area between the two towns. It is built beside two artificial lakes and is made up of a large residential area (Brownlow), a second smaller one (Mandeville), plus a central area (Highfield) that includes a substantial shopping centre, a courthouse and the district council headquarters. The lakes, a wildlife haven, are surrounded by woodland with walking trails. There is also a watersports centre, petting zoo, golf course and ski slope in the area. In most of Craigavon, motor vehicles are completely separated from pedestrians, and roundabouts are used extensively.

Popped in for a bite of lunch driving from Belfast onwards to a meeting. Staff were pleasant however the food was mediocre at best. Setting lacked in atmosphere and had an air of being completed on a shoestring. Our kitchen at home has a bigger "food hall". I'm trying to conjure up positivity however if you are looking a progressive lunch that is up to date in setting and taste this is not the place.

Attended a wedding at the Riverdale recently and it could not have been better. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Venue is very picturesque and there are plenty of photo opportunities. The option of sweet appetizers was an interesting start and the cup of tea a life saver. It was going to be a long day!! Some complaints about the price of drinks but you could get a pint of lager of beer for less than £4.00. Cheaper than the south of England. Hog roast for the meal was just right with the plenty of salads and vegetable to accompany the main. Good selection of puddings. All brought together in a tastefully decorated room. Later there was a buffet which most people needed after dancing to 'Hair of the Dawg'. By the way, the band were brilliant and got everyone on their feet. Let's not forget the DJ who had the unenviable job of following the band. He got the music right and we all danced until 1.15!! Can't comment on the price as was a guest but it is good value from a guests point of view.

Very poor service, long time to get a waitress then our drinks took 35 minutes, the drinks order took 3 attempts to be correct, two of us ordered champ but got mash, my meal was cold but the other 7 were really good, I wouldn't recommend as the service was poor

Attended as part of a birthday party function. Haven't been in a long time. Food was outstanding, service was great, and all staff without exception were friendly and professional. On holiday in the area visiting family and popped in for a drink. Was a bit nervous but the bar staff (ginger) was really nice and had good craic! Pineapple margaritas were gorgeous!! Visiting friends who took us here for an evening meal. While the decor is lovely and the staff efficient and friendly I am afraid the food did not match up. My wife's prawn cocktail was very basic with only lettuce and cucumber as a base for the prawns, and her duck had no vegetables served with it. My pork chop had one carrot and one parsnip. Any extra vegetables needed to be purchased as extras at £3.50 per portion! I was going to have a steak, but objected to paying £25.00 just for the steak - again any sauces/chips/potatoes etc. were £3.50 per portion. Having to go upstairs to the bar area to order our meal and then back down to the restaurant was a pain, and will cause considerable problems to the less able bodied.Overall this restaurant does not deserve the reputation it appears to have. It serves overpriced mediocre food - will not be back.
