I'll start with the positives, clean bed sheets, good location and relatively easy check in and out process. The rooms are very basic, the showers are tiny but relatively clean. The building is very old so the noise in the reception area travelled under are door and woke us very early

Upon arriving everything was fine until what is now a PTSD event for a few people, the smell of petrol fumes and the sound of a quad bike now triggers a few. Dessie Patterson on behalf of the "Director " completely ruined what was otherwise a lovely trip to a beautiful part of the country. With aggressive and intimidating actions towards a group of essential workers and NHS staff trying to enjoy some time away from the frontline. I hope the Director will address these issues for the sake of all the national investment in Meelmore lodge.

The atmosphere was pretty friendly and I can imagine this place can be a lot of fun during peak travel season. However, during our stay, there were signs posted on the showers stating that there is an issue with the hot water and that it would only be guaranteed at certain intervals. When my friend went to take a shower during one of those intervals, she had hot water for maybe a minute before it turned ice cold. At no other point throughout the stay were we able to get hot water for a shower. I understand that these things happen, but apparently this has been an issue they’ve been dealing with for several weeks now without a particular time table for it to be fixed. We’d been booked here for months and this would’ve been something I’d have liked to have a heads up about, instead, we found out from a sign posted on the door even though staff were aware of the issue.

Ballyeamon Barn is a self-catering hostel which accommodates 14 people in dorms with bunk beds - all bedding provided. We also have a private apartment with bathroom and double bedroom. Full kitchen facilities provided. We are situated in the Irish countryside with good hiking trails all around us - 5miles/8km from the sea and an easy walk to the beautiful waterfalls of Glenariff Forest Park. We hold music and storytelling evenings every Saturday - free of charge and open to guests and local people.
We stayed three nights in the loft, and can't say enough about it! The loft is spacious and airy, with views of red squirrels out the window and sheep across the road. Comfy bed. Good shower. Excellent breakfast in the cozy kitchen downstairs. Plenty of free parking. Those are the basics, but the charm of the barn is so much more. The owner, Liz Weir, is a storyteller, and a warmer, more interesting, more welcoming hostess could not be found. She knows everyone and everyplace, and can give excellent recommendations for restaurants, walks, local sights, more -- and she delivers it all with fascinating information and stories. We weren't there for the legendary session that happens every Saturday, but Liz took us to a lively session at a nearby pub. This was our second stay at the Ballyeamon Barn, and we're already looking forward to the next visit.

The Hutt is a newly refurbished budget backpackers, catering for families, individuals, groups and thrill seekers. Located at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, there could not be a better base to start your adventure. Overlooking the beach and 2 minutes from the bus station, this hostel is perfectly located to all the local amenities.
I've never written a review before but the Hutt Hostel in Newcastle is exceptional and deserves a recommendation. It is immaculately clean and very comfortable - you feel like you have all the room and space you want. That said, I only stayed to sleep and shower - the location is such that you are tempted outdoors to the beach across the road or else the forest park and hills inland. And all served up with a smile by the ever-cheery and helpful Stephanie I could only stay for a few days but definitely wasn't long enough and I will certainly return, as well as recommending the hostel and the town to anyone needing a few days' break, peace, hillwalking and beachstrolling..

As this was my first time in Belfast I relied on TripAdvisor to find me suitable accommodation and it didn't fail.Located within a 10/15 taxi ride out from the city on it's own grounds in a quiet and peaceful setting. The 5* hostel is well kept and I found the staff in general very welcoming and helpful.A special mention goes to Ruth the Manager,Patrick and Joe the night porters and Mary front of house. My room was spacious with a king size bed (a new pocket sprung mattress),TV,tea making facilities and an ensuite with a double shower.Continental breakfast was included in my modest fee.The staff are employed from both communities locally and work well together.I plan to return again next year and revisit my home from home.
