There was a time, when I visit Tokaj / Tarcal and I didn't know that Szedmak Pince exists. Now I can't imagine visiting Tokaj without tasting Sandor's vine. Owner is speaking Hungarian, English and polish, which is a huge advantage. Over last 4 visits we have been shown vine making process from the very beginning (as grapes maturate on bushes), through harvest time (we have personally picked up grapes and squeezed fresh juice) and finally tasting time :). Vines are delicious, everyone will find something for himself / herself - different grape variates, dry, semi dry, semi sweet and sweet vines.

Had a good dinner with a nice bottle of Disznókő wine, all for a reasonable price. This was one of the few restaurants in the area open on a Monday night. We walked in without reservations toward the end of the evening. There was a large wine tour group (?) taking up the front room, but we were quickly seated in the back. I was concerned that the service would be slow with the large group, but the service didn't suffer. I had a roast duck while my wife had a fish stew. Both dishes were done nicely. Unlike some of the other reviews, our serving sizes were ample.

This being our second trip to Mád we knew that this would be our "go to" place for lunch..One could make a great meal out of the house patés, rillettes, chutney ,pickled veggies as well as their plates of excellent mangalica ham and local cheeses.. The house baked bread is also delicious. Just add wine of which they have many wonderful bottles.....For the mains we had the duck leg which was very nice and the fried chicken ,which was really panko breaded rather than the batter fried we know in the USA... Anyway, the potatoes with parsley and lots of butter were a big hit with the Poles at the table... Good locally sourced food ,capable kitchen and affable enough staff makes this one of the better places to eat in the Tokaj area. Dog friendly too!
