Brushy Mountain Smokehouse never advertised that they were on the BBQ trail but I thought I'd try it anyway.
Per the NC BBQ app it's cooked over gas and hickory but I really couldn't taste the hickory to be honest. My wife and I both agreed that the BBQ had a "sweet" taste. It was unlike any other BBQ we've had. I was kind of disappointed in the complete lack of smoke flavor though. While I prefer chopped, this hand pulled que was definitely tender and juicy though.
The sauce on the table was extremely peppery. We weren't expecting that much black pepper and my wife applied too much for her taste.
I added slaw to the sandwich (who doesn't) and it balances out the black pepper taste.
Honestly, his was average que. However, we would definitely stop back because of the attached ice cream shop! I had a apple pie cone and it was amazing!! The size is huge!! My wife had a delicious milk shake.
Overall, this probably a good family restaurant but only an average que joint. However, we would return for the delicious ice cream!!!
Last thing, our service was absolutely excellent. She really treated us like family even though it was obvious we hadn't been there before. She gave us recommendations that we followed and were happy with.

Since 2002, Amalfi's Restaurant & Pizzeriabring to Wilkes County a traditional flavor of mediterranean cuisine, using the finest and freshest products, like seafood, vegetable, poultry, and meats. We welcome you in a real Italian atmosphere. Buon Appetito!
Extremely good food at a reasonable price. The highlight is the food which is exceptionally prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is good with both indoor and outdoor seating. The wait staff seemed new and unsure in answering questions at times
but was friendly. Portions are large. The only downside is the restrooms that need a remodel.

This is hands down the best restaurant in the Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro area. This is a farm to table restaurant. The ingredients always seem fresh. The menu changes but some items carry over.
The prices are reasonable and the service is unflaggingly helpful and courteous.
Highly recommended.
The restaurant closes in the afternoon before it reopens for dinner. There is occasional live music.

A great, little out-of-the-way place that serves the best coffee in the county. Anchor is located in the rear of a parking lot, off of a back street - look for their signs. They grind and roast their coffee daily, and offer several different kinds of excellent, South American blends. They offer a small, comfortable seating area that is really relaxing. Seek it out!

This is the only Thai cuisine in Wilkes county however it is good. Their Pad Thai is great. Also I recommend the Gai Krob if your into pineapple. If it's a cold day drop in for one of their special hot pots to warm you up.

The sounds of friendly conversation and laughter drift over the four top tables. The smell of the grill makes your mouth begin to salivate. A friendly wave from Madge or Jeanie guides you to a just opened table. Plenty of coffee and juice to get you started. Then the decisions of what home cooked staples will start your day. The biscuits and gravy will always hit the spot. I don't know what they do to the farm fresh eggs but they leave you wishing you had ordered one more. The tenderloin is my typical protein and there is never a scrap left. The 50's is a wonderful place to settle back in a days past, enjoy some good home cooked fresh food and of course friends you know or some you have not yet met. Take some time, slow down and enjoy.

Was really looking forward to dinner with friends here, but it was a very disappointing evening. Risotto was not good at all...texture and flavor were off. It was paste-y and bland. Everyone else had something wonderful. Service was slow and not very attentive. I've had quite a few good experiences here, which is why I am still rating it average instead of terrible.

I dined with three business associates and had an excellent meal. I had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing that I enjoyed thoroughly and a hamburger steak for my main. The accompanying mashed potatoes were awesome, but I found the hamburger steak itself a bit dry, though it was ordered medium. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for a nice meal in a fine restaurant.

Cagney's was busy when we went for Sunday lunch. We were seated fairly quickly, although the large number of vacant tables ready for guests to be seated makes me wonder why there was a wait at all.
Service was friendly and attentive, but not really efficient. Lots of running back and forth to bring things that should have been included with the order.
Lasagna was disappointing this time. Noodles were very overcooked, and the whole dish was just mushy. Omelets and salads were OK.
We like Cagney's...we just think they had an off-day.
