Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, Chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls. Whatever the occasion, we'll stop at nothing to make your time at Abuelo's a memorable dining experience.
The first thing you notice about Abuelo's is how stunning the restaurant looks - on the inside and out. It's like a Mexican vacation resort (and this remains even after they relocated across the street). Generally that's a red flag for the RJG. Happy Hour is from 4PM to 7PM on Monday through Friday. Early to-mid 1800's German settlers, who helped develop the Hill Country of South Texas, also recreated their beloved "hoffbraus"or "beer gardens" where local townspeople, farmers and ranchers gathered to enjoy hearty meals and brewed beverages in a setting that was naturally casual yet humming with conversations and warm friendly service. What began as a "Hoffbrau" in South Texas truly was the origin of the Texas Hill Country Steakhouse... A tradition that our family has continued since opening Hoffbrau Steaks in 1978. Enjoy yourselves, our Texas hospitality... The great steaks and foods for which we are known. Many thanks, The Fogiel Family

Five Star Food in a gas station. Featured on Food Networks Diners Drive-ins and dive, Paula Deen Magazine, CNN, New York Times and many others.
Yep, restaurant inside a Conoco gas station....not as bad as it sounds. Remodeled inside and outside so it's inviting and unusual. Hadn't been a a few years, so tried it for dinner with friends. Nice inside but not overdone. My only complaint is the noise level can get high as the floors are concrete and all walls are hard surfaces. Families come in with kids. Don't dislike kids, but they add to the noise. Dinner menu is in the $20-$25 range so moderate. You won't find much without some form of pasta which is a no-no for diabetics. I had an Angus Rib Eye. It wasn't the best, but for $20 I wasn't expecting much either. Lots of fat. Friends seem to like their pasta dishes with blackened chicken. I did notice there was a bunch of sauce in the bowl so the chicken had to dog paddle :-) Portions on those were huge. Overall I'd say average to good, and lots of bulk for the buck. I won't beat a path back there due to the noise, adult eating with kids, and the average-good food. Nothing was outstanding. I'll try it for lunch next time just to gain perspective on whether it would be a better lunch place.

This is a beautifully designed restaurant and has a great interior and superb decor! We were there for lunch. I had a soup and salad combination and my wife a salad. The wedding soup was beautifully prepared and delicious. The house salad was crisp with great Italian toppings and delicious fresh blue cheese dressing. My wife's said was a fresh mixture of mixed greens with fresh fruit. She did not care for the strawberry champagne, but it's not a show stopper. The only drawback I would say about this incredible restaurant is that the music was blaring loud. I'll be back next year and write a dinner review!

We ate lunch here while in town. The locals really love this place however it's wasn't our style of TX BBQ. I prefer a more honey based sauce. The back Forty sauce was a little spicy for our taste. The portions were huge. Couldn't eat it all. The slaw was good but the baked beans were a little spicy also. Almost like chili.
Just not my kind of BBQ I guess.

My wife and I decided to give it a try for lunch today. When you go in, you order at a counter and then they give you a number and bring your food out to you. I ordered the pricey Meatloaf and my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. I had Mac & Cheese and mashed potatoes and my wife had the green beans and mashed potatoes. My Meatloaf was bland except for the overpowering taste of the barbecue sauce they put on top of it. The Mac & Cheese just average. My wife's Chicken Fried Steak was good. She liked and I took several bites of it myself. Her portion of green beans was very small, but she said they were good. I found this place to be too expensive for the quality of food and location. Cracker Barrel is a better value for this type of food and in my opinion their food is better. Glad to have tried Campfire Grill once, but we will not go back a second time.

Mi Pueblo serves authentic Tex-Mex. great salsa, chips, margaritas and more! The food is great. Can't go wrong with fajitas, enchiladas, or carne Asada. I've never had a bad meal here and I've been going there for years! Friendly servers and good pricing. Nice bar area with TVs, but also good for families.

Our new location features a more comfortable dining room, a private dining area for large groups and a much better parking lot with easy access from Hurstview, Mid-Cities Blvd. And Grapevine Highway.
Chicken fried steak rated 8 on 10 scale for a breakfast meal. Tender meat. Classic breakfast not so much, bacon half cooked with raw ends two inches long. Rye toast soggy throughout.
