The most populous (with 18 million people) and westernmost (bordering Belgium and the Netherlands) of Germany's federal states, North Rhine-Westphalia is one of Europe's most highly industrialized areas, with an impressive 30 cities of more than 100,000. Cologne is the district's biggest city, and the capital is Dusseldorf. Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, is also here. All three are part of the Rhine-Ruhr region of nearly 12 million people, one of Europe's biggest metropolitan areas.

The location of this a&o is as cosy as the bed you’ll be sleeping in: the main railway station is just two minutes away on foot, and Cologne Cathedral is literally steps away. If you find yourself unable to move after a long night of carnival partying, then well, you’ve come to the right place. There are 42 single, double, and family rooms, and like at every a&o, a bathroom with shower/ WC. You enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the building, and the staff at the reception are always ready to help with a smile.
A private room was over 100 euro per night. The front desk had a lot of trouble finding my booking and asked me to come back to pay several times - but when I did, no one was ever there. Didn’t feel secure. Clean, but tiny and in a super busy part of town, not a very good communal space. Also with the heat, no fan or air con available. Windows attracted a swarm of bugs when opened. It just wasn’t comfortable. I’d been sharing a dorm for just over a week in another city and needed some proper sleep. I didn’t get it.

January 2019 marks the opening of the H4 Hotel Mönchenglabdach am Borussia Park. The hotel, which is located directly at the home stadium of Borussia Mönchengladbach, will feature a sporty design, while its location and facilities will make it the ideal base for football fans and sports enthusiasts They can enjoy the fan shop that is located in the building and Borussia's team museum "Fohlenwelt", the 250 m2 sports bar, and fitness and wellness offerings. The property’s 131 bedrooms and six suites offer contemporary comfort, complete with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with Sky Sports and tea and coffee-making facilities. Hotel guests have direct access to the stadium via a private entrance. A restaurant with terrace, conference facilities, and an executive lounge for business travellers complete the BORUSSIA PARK offer.
Rooms are super clean and well equipped. Concrete, industrial feeling combined with football extra’s like locker room benches, and the greatest moments in the history of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Great view in every room as well. Not only for football fans. This is a great place to stay the night.

Bochum is a city with a history of mining and steel production and is now characterised by culture, museums and events. Our new GHOTEL hotel & living Bochum is located opposite the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum and guarantees a stay in a modern environment. Whether for business or leisure, your stay here will combine comfort, exciting activities in the daytime and easy access to lots of highlights in a lovely city.
The Hotel is relatively new still fresh, rooms are comfortable, front desk and bar staff are super nice and helpful, but housekeeping let’s the place down. On arrival I checked into my room and found the food from the previous guest in the fridge, soap dispenser was more or less empty, there was a hint of soap in the bottom of the bottle. Second day, came back to the room, the unused towels were removed from the bathroom, I was left with 1, I went to reception to get a foot matt as the bathroom floor does get quite wet, so you need one (the one I had also disappeared into thin air). Minibar was not refilled (not sure if it is policy not to refill it, if it is than I was not made aware of that) and soap was not refilled either, but I had some with me so I used that. So due to this not the brightest star in the Hotel Universe. If nothing else would be free I might stay here again, fair well knowing that housekeeping works on a standard you’d expect in a hostel.

Central location handy for shops, bars, restaurants. Short walking distance to Dortmund Central Train Station. Reception friendly. I arrived too early to check in but was able to leave luggage in hotel until check in. Room clean, modern, ideal for a short stay. No complaints.

Very clean rooms, very quiet, even we had a room with a view at Schwebebahn (suspended train). Very friendly staff! The hotel has a parking place. I really recommand it and if i will be back, i will stay here for sure.

The new Super8 Oberhausen is the ideal location for business travellers and families. Not only in terms of access to the transport network. The Centro – one of Europe’s largest shopping malls is just a 5-minute walk away. You are right in the heart of things – yet can still enjoy an oasis of relaxation.
I made a booking for this hotel but when I arrived I was told that it was closed after that night and informed that I had no booking there. After investigating, the receptionist found that I was rebooked into a sister hotel instead. The hotel had not contacted me about the change, I have contacted the Nectar Hotels who claim that they did not know about this. This is bad behaviour on all parties, I should have been notified and offered the opportunity to change my reservation.

I have stayed here twice while attending conferences. That is really what this place is for. The conferences were excellent, and the fine accommodations were part of the experience; the room, food, etc. were much better than the hotel where I spent a few days before the conference. Salient features include a small reading room on the same floor as the hotel rooms, a pleasant Piano Bar (even if nobody was playing the piano...), the pretty gardens and plenty of conference rooms of various sizes.

I am so pleased we found Der Kleine Globetrotter - housed within a traditional town house, complete with winding stairs and original features, we were very well looked after. The proprietor speaks excellent English - having lived for many years in New Zealand - and was extremely helpful. We stayed in the Shanghai Room (each room is fashioned in homage to a world city), which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. We would highly recommend this place!!!

Advantages: Self check in, clean, inexpensive, free internet, big window. Disadvantages: Self check in, a very small room, no kettle or coffee in the room, not the comfiest bed in the world. For the money I paid I would rate it at four stars.

We arrived late 6 persons en route to Paris on bicycle/ service car and was very well received by the friendly host, who arranged Pizzas and cold drinks in notime. We stayed in large and comfortable rooms on the basement and was treated with special early (6:20!) full breakfast in order to leave quickly for the next etape. Hotel 500 meters from old Town/center. Very recommendable and we will return to Discover the very beautiful old Town and stay at Friends again.
