Ristorante Carlo

Reviewed By MotherTravels

With so many restaurants leaving mom and pop industry to turn franchise, it's a genuine bloom of beauty to encounter a lovely restaurant as Ristorante Carlo in Overath, near the train station. Having had mediocre Italian in Cologne, I set my expectations low and was wow'd by the delicious salad and pasta. My companion settled for wine while I enjoyed a cold sparkling water made by the house and it was fresh and tasty. I hope to get a gift card to send friends here for a romantic meal. The aesthetics are engaging for Italian sunglass movie fans, with Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, lovely decor and furnishings-- has a French provencal aux Tuscan coziness. Well done, Ristorante Carlo. I salute you. Oh and your deserts are out of this world divine.

Quattro Stagioni

After a heartwarming welcome we were brought to our table, which was located in a sober yet cozy and tastefully decorated room. The menu offers a wide variety of pasta, fish, meat and pizza dishes. Service at the table was very friendly and correct. Three of us took the Tagliatelli Rindfleisch, which we all found very tasty. The very kind owner offered us a free Schnapps after we finished eating. Excellent value for money and highly recommended!

Restaurant & Cafe Zehntscheuer

Next to Schloss Homburg is this small restaurant with an Italian chef. Dishes are European, but the combi of good meat and fish main courses with pizzas is great for bringing your kids too. Everybody happy. Next to the very friendly service, the food and wine were excellent. The restaurant is a little bit outside of Nümbrecht and only open for dinner in the weekend, but it is well worth going to it.

Bauernschaenke Broeleck

Reviewed By Babsie59

After 2.5 hours walk in the beautiful countryside around Bröleck, Ruppichteroth, we went for lunch in Bauernschänke on Easter Monday. It was absolutely packed and we were asked whether we had booked a table which we had not. They accommodated us anyway and were very kind. We got very good, down to Earth food. The salad was excellent and I cannot understand why you would complain about it (see review further down). Some of us had a Schnitzel which was huge and good with fried potatoes and one of us had a Fladenbrot. Latter is very big, even the small one and should only be eaten if you are really hungry. We enjoyed the stay very much. Bauernschänke is not the place for a posh evening out but a good place for decent food after a long walk with muddy boots on your feet. They also have outside seating. Inside is very quaint but certainly not everybody's taste - far from contemporary. Yes, this is the right place for active, hungry, walking people, bikers, and cyclists.

Haus am Berg

Reviewed By Kip F

Came here with family for a dinner, good idea. Ate outside on their patio where the view is of local houses and trees, nice area with no loud traffic. We all ordered smaller versions of the dishes, except for my spouse, as the small ones were perfectly fine. Our uncle ordered the smaller Schnitzel which came with less potatoes than the regular size, but the two schnitzel pieces were just as large as the regular portion. The Cod on pumpkin quinoa was so colorfully organized, it was a work of art! And I got the small size, which was good as there was plenty to eat! We also all got side salads, which was a good idea b/c none of the dishes we ordered had veggies with them. Good meal, good server, and good company! The only caveat, their espresso is very watery.
