Discover Restaurants offering the best French food in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Best known as the capital of Charlemagne's Frankish empire, today's Aachen sits at the juncture where Germany meets the Netherlands (the Dutch know it as Aken) and Belgium (where "Walloons" call it Aix-la-Chapelle). But Aachen's history goes back even further than 8th-century Charlemagne. Roman soldiers dating back to the 1st century AD cherished its hot springs (as did Charlemagne, who loved a good spa day just as much as the next guy). Aachen Cathedral, northern Europe's oldest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the city's main attraction.

We had a great lunch at La Becasse in Aachen. After more than 20 years this restaurant is still excellent and provides amazing food with a phantastic wine selection. The lunch is a 3 course menu with amuse geul, intermediate and changes daily.

We enjoyed every moment of our time as this wonderful small restaurant tucked away in Aachen. The owners served us and took care of us very well. We started with the fois gras -- it was perfect, so tender -- succulent. The best we've ever had anywhere! Plus a good-sized portion for the price. Next was the rabbit tenderloin: interesting and different, but maybe rabbit is not something we'd go for again; nevertheless this dish was beautifully prepared. Last was the creme brulee flamed at the table. We have had this many many other places, but this was wonderful and memorable. Wine selection was great, ambiance great. Proprietors were charming and added to the experience. We look to coming back.

Richtig lecker!
Friends recommended this modern restaurant as they live opposite the street. I ordered one out of two lunch offers, fried riceballs with mango on mashed sweet potatoe and cassis pak choi. Honestly, it sounded great, but the whole plate was a combination of sweet-sweet-sweet. I missed a tinge of sour or spicey to round up this dish. If the price they ask hasnât been that low, I would have given three stars. But the staff was well informed and very friendly.

We had lunch and the food was good but the prices are to high for just simple good food. The big restaurant was pretty much empty so that felt a little weird.
