Things to do in Freudenberg
To start: this is about Rastatte Ost but that is not in the list and TripAdvisor didn't want to add it. So there might be important differences.Arrived last evening around 19:00 on my way back to the Netherlands to get a dinner. Been here multiple times and it is much better than a couple other Rasttattes. While the restaurant is open 24/7 only 3 more guests were there and they all ordered from the 2nd restaurant, a burger king.I ordered a 'knüsper Schnitzel' with 'Pommes frites' and a smoothy for vitamins. It costed close to 17 euro.Sometimes these kind of restaurants have schnitzels prepared but in this case it came frozen and thus 'fresh'. Taste was ok but for half the price of a decent steak in a city restaurant it is pricey.Since there was not much to do and I was alone I was gone within 30 minutes, which is a good sign if you want a quick dinner.Employees were friendly and served my order at the table instead of requiring me to wait till the cooking had been done. The lady saw I didn't pick up cuttlery so walked back for me to grab a set a bring it to me, nice .Like many other restaurants at the highway you need to pay for toilet usage.

I need to start off by saying that 3 stars is for me a fair and fairly good review, this place has many plus points, and minus, which i'll try and cohesively lay out below. What I would like to start with, is this place has absolute potential, and I hope to see this place around for years to come, as Siegen has a lack of top notch burger joints, so it should do fairly well.PLUSTheir claim 'best burger in town' stands quite true, the burgers are really, really good, I like mine well done (but don't mind medium), I find a lot of places if the meat isn't from a good source, it can wither a good burger away. The ever so slightly burnt outer really gave a beautiful tang to the beef - this place has sourced the ingredients down to perfection, very delicious. The sub ingredients (this is a burger joint right?) were also consistenly fresh, with a good tangy cheese supplementing the burger, overall it was a highly crafted burger, very presentable, and most importantly, delicious burger. I can't stress enough, this was a 5 star burger. and I tend to agree, out of all the burgers i've eaten in Siegen, it's fair to say it was good, although, is there really a challenge? The decor was impressive, this place obviously has a few euros spent on interior, with good level lighting, not too blanch, and a somewhat industrial theme to it. Interior was mainly comfortable, and looked cool. This is a fairly hip affair, it's like looking through an interior design catalogue, with crazy pipe lights everywhere, it's really really cool, maybe for people in their 20s/30s, it'll become that type of burger joint...Another plus for travelling people, they take card. You'll get used to this if you travel in Germany, there's some sort of inherant fear of paying with card, so a plus point for adopting the 21st century for this place. Very happy with this decision. Overall, the restaurant has a great basis to aim for 4 maybe 5 stars, i'll get on to why i've given it 3 later...OKFood took (for a group of 5 of us) a fairly average time, but the attention to detail was consistent. I felt a little sorry for people ordering after us as I think we got into the restaurant just in time, this place being new, filled up fairly quickly.MINUSThe portions. At the price, you could argue that it's hard to balance quality to price, restaurants are notoriously hard to make profit from, and this place I must reiterrate has the basis to be absolutely great. I don't feel 3 stars is a totally fair review to give, but I can only base a blanket overall review from my experience. This place has great great potential, and I feel extremely guilty to review 3 stars, but I feel the meat was way way too small (120gr) for a small burger with chips at 8.50 is 1 euro more than Konna's Foodtruck. There's no parking outside, which being in the town centre isn't neccessarily a problem, but I find the quality wasn't 'that' much better, with paying more for a lot less. if you are going to go down the route of serving 120gr meat, you need a smaller bap.Pommes (or chips) could do with a triple fry, the centre lacked the fluff that a sublime chip can have. The centre of the chip was a little too compacted with the outer not enough crunch. The perfect chip however, is a complex beast. The chips luckily filled me up (just about), although it was a bit of a process to finish the plate, definitely needed more sauce, which I would suggest moving to a pot rather than a slight dish as used at the moment.Overall, If you are reading this, don't let 3 stars put you off, i'm fairly consistent with not giving 5 stars, and it's definitely worth a try.
Looking for a snack, especially on a cold day? Exit the Galeria and cross the Sieg River to Big Potato. Fresh, hot French fries are their claim to fame but they also offer a nice lunch menu. Top your fries with curry ketchup, regular ketchup, mayo or like the locals-red and white(ketchup and mayo). The girls are very friendly and the service is quick.
