We have not eaten there YET, but would love to, next visit to Cologne. We went in for a late night hot drink the day before my birthday. We considered eating there for my birthday, reasons being it was a very cosy, friendly little place but we had booked somewhere else bigger. The next day though, my birthday, after our dinner elsewhere, we returned to Herings just for a last birthday drink. The proprietor brought my drink out with a party piece sparkler & sang me a happy birthday, husband in tow! Was so nicely done. When my husband came to pay the bill,he was told there was nothing to pay, as it was my birthday! Inspiring little place. I wish I HAD Chosen there to eat now. Their review ratings are 67 out of over 2,000 reviews! Must be good, as good as their service. Lovely, lovely little place with smiling staff. Makes for such a great atmosphere.

Authentic Japanese kitchen with a main focus on freshly prepared sushi. We went for the menu that is worth its price. All fish entirely fresh, the composition of the different plates delicious for eyes and palate, a true delight. The place itself is basic and simple with very kind Japanese-only staff.Iâll be back!

The venue is located in the studentâs quarter on the Zuelpicher Strasse, a main road in Cologne. Parking is possible on the road, sparse though. The restaurant is decorated with a lot of pictures of the movies of Federico Felini. The menu is simply gorgeous. We had a lot variation of the standard Italian cuisine which were a delight. I had a Carpaccio of Roast beef but warm! Yummy. As second course I had Risotto with Aspargus. Yummy too. The main course was a huge loup de mer in a salt crust which I shared with a friend. The wine was expertly selected by the boss himself and was great fit. The service was extremely warm hearted.

Mezedopolio
The venue is located in the studentâs quarter of Cologne at the corner of two major streets. The restaurant has a small inside dining room and even smaller outside dining area. The menu is medium sized. The restaurant is famous for their Mezze, the Greek version of Tapas. We had a dozen of dishes. Most of them were delicious but some of them lacked of seasoning, and I mean not that salt was missing, I don't like salt. The service was very nice and professional. Unfortunately they don't accept cash only. I was not aware of this, and had to get money from a more or less far ATM. I was very embarrassed in front of my friends.

Nicely located along the Rhein the terrace offers a nice view.OK food but nothing exceptional. (Meat overcooked)Good selection of wine (but pricy). The service is overacted for this type of restaurant, same for the decor which is very basic.

We visited Tapeo & Co on a Tuesday night after coming across it on TripAdvisor - if not for TripAdvisor we wouldnât have eaten here as it was a good 25-30 minute walk from where we were staying. Itâs definitely worth trying to book as it was busy for the duration of our meal! They managed to squeeze us in without too much trouble despite this, which was a good sign. They provided us with an English menu which was provided but if youâve had tapas before/access to the internet this isnât totally necessary. The food and drinks came out promptly considering how busy they were at the start of the evening (they have happy hour between 5-8 and a deal on tapas between 5-6)All of the food was of a very good standard and the portion sizes are decent compared to their British counterparts. The staff were attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting Cologne.

Teppan-yaki-restaurant
Honestly this is ridiculous. This is so far from anything that is supposed to be teppanyaki. As a place that is teppanyaki-experience only, it is absolutely awful. The cooks here seem barely trained in what they do, they just simply cook in front of you without any tricks and if anyone has had actual teppanyaki, itâs all about the experience. For one singular trick, a flambé heart, they ask you to pay an extra 10 bucks, what should be part of it already. The sushi here is god awful, way too large for a human mouth to fit unless you can dislocate your jaw, you can definitely see the sushi chef here has not learnt how to properly handle sushi. The rest is mediocre or too salty, and it definitely shouldnât be for this price. There are many cheaper and better alternatives than this. What threw me off most of all, is not only they ask for another 10 bucks for a simple flambé heart, but that they dare you serve you a huge chunk of cheap 1$ grocery store ice cream along with tiny premade half-stale crêpes.Seems like this place has no passion and is only money-hungry and feed on those who have not had the chance to experience true teppanyaki.

Strengths: Attentive staff; small intimate restaurant; will seat groups of 6-10; only 30 people in whole place. All the food was excellent and I mean really high quality; its a fixed menu; nice opening starter; relzed antipasta platter; the cheese pasta with trufffles is simply phenomenal; all the meat entrees were great.Opportunies: Ventaliation. The management needs to take seriously the need to get fresh air into the restaurant. Put a small vent above the door.

Unfortunately the food wasn't freash. We order about 8 tapas. Non of them was good. Full with oil and was served cold.Dear Mayan,we are really sorry you feel that way. We can assure you that we select the ingredients of our tapas with great care, we buy at the local market and get our meat from a farmer. All our ingredients are fresh. In addition, our kitchen stuff puts a lot of effort in preparing delicious dishes. Some tapas are served cold, but that is signalled in the menu. We hope to get another chance to convince you of our restaurant. All the best,Stadtwaldgarten
