Let me start off with some positive words to make sure the excerpt you see in the search results is good: this place was amazing, the food was amazing, the service was outstanding and they trusted us to pay by wire when we got home because we couldn't pay in situ.Coming from the Netherlands, we were planning to visit the Zoo in Duisburg by car and to have dinner around Duisburg before returning home. We found this restaurant through Tripadvisor, and the following features drew our attention: you could eat in the garden (it was a beautifully sunny day) and they specialised in fish. It was right on the banks of the river Rhine, and it was not too far out of the way since we had a car. If you rely on public transport, it may be a whole lot tougher to get there, which is a shame for tourists looking for great food in Duisburg. But if you have a car, I strongly advise you to visit this place! There was ample space for free parking. No reservations in the garden, but it wasn't all that crowded when we arrived and we could get seated straight away.We require gluten-free preparation of our meals, and while they weren't familiar with the concept, they listened attentively and our food was prepared without any gluten at no extra charge (we experienced no problems at all.) While perusing the menu, we got a plate of fresh prawns, and later we also got a complementary plate of scallop-like shells (I forgot their name) to help kill the time until our main dish arrived. The amount of available types of fish was astonishing judging by the menu only, and then there was even a list of "daily stuff from the market" that wasn't even on the menu. We ordered a "mix of fish, give us what you've got" and a smoked zander. During our ordering, the staff was happy to help us decide by giving advise based on what type of fish we knew we liked, and they translated german fish names we weren't familiar with. Some waiters spoke a bit of Dutch, and I guess all of them spoke English. This place has its own smoking oven, and I highly recommend ordering your favourite fish smoked. It takes a while (they freshly smoke everything on demand) but it is definitely worth it! It was probably the best zander I had ever eaten. Moreover, both our plates came with an extra side of panfried catfish, which was delicious as well. Also, there was a bevy of sauces, all in nice silverware, and there was a huge bowl of traditional bratkartoffeln (baked potatoes with bacon and maybe some onion.) Of course, this being Germany, there was a nice selection of beers on tap.One second minor downside (the first being that they did not know what gluten-free entailed before we explained it to them) is that you can only pay cash. We did not know this in advance, so we didn't bring any. I offered to drive to an ATM, leaving my girlfriend behind as a hostage, but they just gave me their bank account number and told me to wire the money to them when I got home, which I guess is an enormous sign of good faith. While the river was close, you couldn't see it from the garden - but there were flowers and a small menagerie, so there was plenty of atmosphere regardless. While we were having dinner, the owner came by and asked whether everything was okay and whether our dietary requirements were met. It was clear that this was a guy who enjoyed his job. I wish this place was in my own city instead of in Duisburg. So one last time: if you're in or near Duisburg and have a car, definitely consider this place!

I've struggled to find decent German food recently. ... it seems to be disappearing under a sea of Italian Mexican and others. However this is a traditional German restaurant serving (as far as I could see) only German food. And very good it was too!I had the black pudding and mash. Served with roasted apple pieces.Lovely!

This restaurant offers pleasant environment and serves a solid but unimaginative meal.ANyway it is very difficult fo find any better in Duisburg. Certainly I have not found a better alternative except for a good Doener or sausage at the railwaystation.

Rather large chain Steak House in Duisburg very close to train station and hotels at the station . Easy walk but the walk can get a bit dicey as it gets later in the evening . Server was very helpful , multilingual and quite pleasant. Ordered rib-eye and ,at best , it was average . Wife ordered chicken Caesar sandwich and she said it was moist and bread was excellent . Very good salad bar with multiple choices of German salad selections. Ambience was nice - restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms . We were visiting family in Erkelenz and they suggested this place. Wow are the pizzas big. This is not your typical German or Italian pizza. Somebody here has visited the US, but these were considered personal pizzas and they more than covered the plate. The crust was just right and the toppings were outstanding. Also, if you have children they have a play station for them to try out their pizza crust making skills.Ciao, grazie mille for your great feedback! <3 We´re happy to read, that we convinced you with our concept. And yes, your guess was right! There is a minimum amount of love in every recipe ;-)Kind regards, your L'Osteria Team

Brauhaus Webster brews its own beer. Pale, blond, dark and weissen bier.We tried 3 of them and they were just good.Thereâs a restaurant too and we decided to eat some food too. That seemd a good choice! The 2 different kinds of Wienerschnitzel (Holtsteiner and Malz) were good. Fresh veggies and french fries included. Also sauces. The Holsteiner schwein (440 gr!) was very nice, same veggies and fries on the plate.Service was attentive and pleasant, the same goed for the price: 63 euro for the 3 of us!Thank you for your review.

7 Euros for a standard glass of Merlot of which you can buy a bottle for not more than 5. Need I say more? The food is alright, though just a tad bit above average, location is good (for Duisburg). The service lacks professionalism (the waitresses didn't know about wi-fi; also, one of my colleagues was actually yelled at for complaining about the very late arrival of the food). Wouldn't go there again unless they reworked their service AND the wine selection/pricing.

As with everything in Germany I expected a good experience while at Pesas AllSteaks in Duisburg, but I didn't realized how good. As I learned what locals have for over a decade, this steakhouse delivers a truly exceptional dining experience whether you're into highend Japanese, American or Argentinan prime cut beef or traditional dishes.
