Had this on 2 occasions - fuss-free and you'll get to pick using thongs the food items that you want. Not of the highest quality or the cheapest, but they were rather tasty - the spicy chicken sushi, terriyaki chicken roll, salmon avocado sushi were all fine.

Have been to this restaurant under previous management so this is first visit to Maha and we were certainly not disappointed. I love Japanese cuisine and to have the owner/chef come out and talk about his food was awesome. Sushimi was amazing especially the aged Tuna.Thank you, as you saw we have literally removed the barriers between the kitchen and the dining space to encourage this interaction. You can see and smell the Hibachi grill!Try out Thursdays with the optional limited choice set menu is another way of keeping those creative juices flowing.And remember you can pop in anytime during the hours of 11- 9 if you just need a sashimi fix to make your day!Diane and Ming and the team

We came across this little Japanese restaurant wandering around Paihia - great lunch spot and very reasonably priced at $12 for a large bowl. The chicken Katsu was excellent and was all cooked to order (nice and fresh, the chicken was very well cooked). The staff were also super friendly!
