Visited with 5 people for s birthday dinner . Retro 70âs decor which is quirky and fun. Outdoor seats on the road front enable lots of people watching. Food delicious and excellent service. Bookings for meals recommended in weekends as this is s popular place to get a good value meal.Excellent baked Brie, beef ribs and fish of the day.

Had lunch and dinner here. For lunch the waitress bought the wrong dish as she thought there was just one special... So I had the shredded pork and celeriac rather than the whitebait frittata. I wouldn't normally order that kind of pork, but it was fine. The celeriac was delicious. Went back in evening to have what I thought I had ordered for lunch, ie frittata (omelette basically). Nice enough, although on reflection i think that dish is overated. Also seems one is unable to book tables in the bar area - I wanted to reserve as meeting a business colleague. If they had not suggested that place, I would have changed venues! I would suggest they allow booking but with a "if you aren't here after 15 mins, we may have to give away the table" rule...And yes, it is relatively expensive (especially for a place that gets the order wrong - and doesn't even offer anything for screwing that up, eg a free dessert!).

We had been out to Cape Palliser for a morning drive and timed our return nice with a lunch stop here at this historic hotel. It was once the Ferrymanâs lodging who had the licence to sell alcohol too.Fantastic setting, nice warm fires this time of year and great food.It was tough deciding what to order but we settled on the famous Fish & Chips for me and the Roast Beef Sandwich for the wife, washed down with a nice ale and wine.Lots of history on the walls.Friendly service and reasonable prices.Glad we went.
