Reviews on Pub food in Napier, North Island, New Zealand. If you like Art Deco architecture, you must visit Napier. The town was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1931, then completely rebuilt in gorgeous Art Deco style. A number of local wineries also offer tours and tastings.

The Gap Cafe in Napier is one of those little treasures of eateries that you stumble across in most cases by accident, that's how we found it.Tucked up a "duck through" gap between the beach main st & the main shopping area, is this delightful little hideaway coffee house/cafe.The food here is above the average coffee house/cafe quality sandwiches & snacks. The "Rare Roast Lamb"on a bagel type roll with The Gap secret dressing is melt in your mouth stuff & the "Eggs Benedict with Salmon" is to die for & the Coffees & Hot Chocolates are excellent as well.A real hide-out for lovers or lovers of coffee.Thank you so much for your kind review! We are very happy to hear you loved our cafe, food and coffee as we strive to be a step above just as you described. We have just updated our menu coming into winter. You should definitely come check it out. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.

For great value fresh food and fine wine list "The Shed" is a popular venue in an informal setting. The Italian wood-fired pizzas are famous in the Bay, and with great platters for sharing, the taste buds are sure to be tantalised. (Try the Caution Dining
A friend had recommended we try the FAWC special of beef cheeks with a glass of shiraz wine all for $25, so we did. The meal was excellent. Such delicious flavours and the meat cooked perfectly and so tender. An excellent meal and excellent value.

Approx 30 of us arrive unannounced (very sorry, was a last min decision) for a family brunch before we all headed home. The staff were extremely professional, helpful and attentive given the amount of us and a mixture of old, young and children. Thank you Station bar! You were all fantastic and the food was delicious!

Authentic Irish Pub with a great Irish menu only one meal over $20. Guinness and Murphy's on tap as well as a number of other beers. We have a great wine selection
Stopped off for an afternoon drink - been here before and have always liked it. No nonsense pub that is what it is - no trying to be something other than an Irish pub. Staff are always friendly and down to earth. Two of us had a nice glass of Merlot and the rest had either a Guinness or a Paddy's Ale. Food we ordered - plate of chips (one with curry gravy) and Bucket O' Fish. All nicely presented. One of our party thought the fish wasn't as good as she'd had previously and just passed her opinion on to a staff member. A manager then came to chat and decided to refund her meal cost. Wasn't necessary but was an excellent PR move! Our server was Cameron (he's evidently a NZ'r) and a young lady (my apologies - I neglected to get your name) - but she's from Tipperary and a very nice young lady. I have one gripe - they have Murphy's Stout but not Murphy's Red which is my favourite ale. Doesn't detract and we will all be back for more of everything. RecommendMany thanks for your very detailed review Grant we are delighted it all turned out okay in the end, in regards to the Murphy's Red it has been taken off the New Zealand market by the breweries otherwise Paddy would have it. We hope to see you back soon.

Booked in for the FAWC lunch which was a game pie matched with a glass of wine for $25.00.I had the vegetarian option which was mushroom and parmesan on mash with spinach. The pie was delicious (I couldnât taste much parmesan) and the wine match perfect. I also had the cheesecake which was salted caramel. It was a very large slice and just average in my opinion.Service was quite slow as the restaurant and bar was very busy.We ate with friends so had an enjoyable time.

With ample parking, and surrounded by several other restaurants and bars, Speights Ale House is a large and modern eatery that offers high quality food and a good selection of beverages. While there are tables downstairs and indoors on the second floor, the best tables are on the terrace, overlooking the water. The place offers wines by the glass and by the bottle and multiple drought beers, but a greater selection by the bottle. Fresh fish and seafood represent the kitchen;s strength, but you'll also find lamb, beef, chicken and pork.

A Napier institution right in the heart of Napier has loads of character and is a great place to meet your friends, start your night out or linger over a meal matched with our great range of beers and wines. Great atmosphere including nightly entertainmen
We were in Napier via a cruise ship stop. We had just finished a 90-minute tour of Napier in a 1927 Buick by Hooters. I as the car company owner for a good place for lunch with good beer. He suggested this place. We got here just as they were opening. We sat at one of the sidewalk tables as it was a beautiful day to people watch and see other vintage vehicles drive past. I ordered my #1 favorite beer, Kilkenny, my wife a coffee, and a beef and Guinness pie from the bar. Our order came out quickly. It was one of the best Beef pies I have ever had. We really enjoyed a relaxing meal.

We took friends out for dinner and chose The Gintrap So Glad we did. We all enjoyed our courses wines & service. The restaurant was busy and it was interesting in that our friend with us who has a hearing aid commented that the acoustics in the restaurant meant his hearing aid didn't get interference so he was able to converse easily. These are things that you do not consider normally so I was happy to learn that. The photos have descriptions of each course. ALL were well worth ordering.Thank you for your amazing review grannygeeha! We are happy to hear you all enjoyed your time with us and that our acoustics didn't interfere with your friends hearing aids so he could converse easily. We look forward to seeing you again.

Fresh Food NOT fast food! We are just a simple Pub doing our best - Not fine dining. Just a few minutes drive from anywhere in Napier, Hawkes Bays oldest licence dating back to 1851. With onsite PAK Asian Kitchen (5 Days) and a favourite with the locals i
Based on previous reviews I was expecting more, turned up at 5.00 pm for an early dinner. Maybe they were not ready to be serving meals - mine got mixed up, daughter received hers after the people who sat and ordered after us. Meals were ok, though the dumplings are too spicy for kids to eat. Note it is a Pepsi bar, not coke. Good thing, they do burgers in a bowl, fantastic if you are low carb (keto). Has large screens if keen to watch sport, So we did not get it spot on. We try to be an excellent Pub Bistro and priced accordingly.Yes most of our Asian dishes would be too spicy for a child's palette as they are designed for adults. We do have a huge range non alcoholic drinks - Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Seven up, Coke No Sugar, Lemon & Paeroa, Sprite, Bunderberg, No sugar Bunderberg, Homegrown OJ, Apple, VVVVV and Six Barrel soda - My personal favourite filtered water!!Just by way explanation, not all dishes or ordering are always in time line, people may be in hurry and we have 4 different stations.Hope this helps as your review helped us.Cheers Jeremy
