We had lunch here and were surprised at how lovely the food and coffees were as the cafe is a little old and rundown. We had a great coffee and wonderful milkshakes for the children and their scones were fresh and yummy.Service was with a smile..recommend.

As from October 2013 we have a new chef and menu which we are very proud of. We are serving fresh, honest food with Pacific influences and we pride ourselves on our NZ lamb dish and our fresh local fish.We have sharing plates and a kids menu so our range
we tried the Horseshoe after its recent refurbishment ad were pleasantly surprised. good service and good 'pub grub'. we both ordered pies - a lamb and kumara and a duck and pork. both came with chips and salad and were substantial meals! Pastry was great - the kind that my grandma used to make - and pie fillings were tasty. very reasonable prices. this restaurant is not 'fine dining' but it doesn't pretend to be....just good quality, informal dining with a good selection on the menu.would recommend and we will be back!

The Grill offers contemporary country cuisine, using quality local and international produce. As the name suggests, The Grill specialises in great steaks including the grain-finished Wakanui Angus, for those who appreciate quality beef. The wine list incl
We had a great buffet at the Grill .For 45.00 each it was a fair price as the quality of food was high and in abundance. The ham was incredibly tender and moist with a sweet orange and pineapple glaze. The turkey was equally cooked to perfection. The vegetables and salads and desserts were all fresh and tasty. Our breakfast at the grill was just an average experience however .They could offer better pancakes for example .A machine squeezes these flat rubbery pancakes which are very unappealing.Service for both meals was friendly and efficient.Hi Janine45,Thank you kindly for taking the time to write a review, we are pleased you enjoyed the buffet our restaurant The Grill. We appreciate your positive feedback and will be sure to pass onto the wider team.We look forward to welcoming you back to dine again!Kind regards,Stevie Turner

Visited for lunch/tea - we were spoilt for choice with excellent cakes, sandwiches and plenty of drinks to choose from. Great brownies with choice of cream or yogurt! Good coffe in different sized cups - couldnât manage a bowl so opted for a large cappuccino.

The Farriers Bar & Eatery is passionate about great food, looking after people and daring to be a little different. We've worked hard to get everything just right - a bit like the guys we take our name from.
Had an evening dinner, showed up at 8pm expecting the place to be closing like half of Masterton does, but the place was buzzing, pretty full, nice atmosphere. Service from the staff was great, and surprisingly given the number of people the wait for drinks and food was about right.Meals were delicious, I had squid for appetizer and some chicken & bacon thing for mains, both great. Only downside is they had run out of the chocolate balls they offer for dessert so had to make do with a chocolate brownie.Thank you Simon for your considered review. The staff will be pleased to hear it and that you enjoyed your visit. Hope to see you again.

We have tried this cafe on previous visits to Masterton and like the variety of counter food on offer. Tried and true standard items such as sandwiches, pies, and slices - nothing flash but fine for a quick lunch. Personally, I'd like the cafe to offer a variety of salads or healthier options for those who want something a little lighter. Recommend as a good coffee stop on your next visit into the city.

Itâs a Lone Star so the menu and food is identical to the other Lone Star restaurants dotted around the country.Service was good and food arrived promptly. The restaurant is large, with plentiful seating.

This place is not much to look out, outside or inside. it is a modest, neighborhood diner, with simple tables and chairs on hardwood floor. There are a few tables against the wall, where you sit on a couch. There is a big counter in the middle of the dining area where you place the order for food and beverage. If you insist, a waitstaff will come to the table to take your order, but it doesn't seem to be the routine. There are several blackboards behind the counter, listing the food being offered that day, as well as the beverages, including the various types of coffee and tea. Once the food appears, you are pleasantly surprised by the quality, the seasoning and the generous portions. We had two orders of calamari, perfectly prepared; an order of Lamb's Fry, also delicious, a burger, a steak and a fish of the day. The wines by the glass were of modest quality, but not unpleasant. Coffee was very good. Service was amateurish, but friendly. Prices were modest, considering the quality and quantity.

Not bad, just nothing exceptional either. Lamb shanks were heavy on the spice and risotto lacked salt. Service was however friendly and quick.
