Coffee is prepared with care at this place, and we loved the blends used. The selection of cakes and pies was delicious, but you can also select salads, sandwiches, burgers, charcuterie, cheeses, along with a good selection of local wines. There is very pleasant outdoor seating, and you ar within a block of the Martinvborough hotel

Had lunch and dinner here. For lunch the waitress bought the wrong dish as she thought there was just one special... So I had the shredded pork and celeriac rather than the whitebait frittata. I wouldn't normally order that kind of pork, but it was fine. The celeriac was delicious. Went back in evening to have what I thought I had ordered for lunch, ie frittata (omelette basically). Nice enough, although on reflection i think that dish is overated. Also seems one is unable to book tables in the bar area - I wanted to reserve as meeting a business colleague. If they had not suggested that place, I would have changed venues! I would suggest they allow booking but with a "if you aren't here after 15 mins, we may have to give away the table" rule...And yes, it is relatively expensive (especially for a place that gets the order wrong - and doesn't even offer anything for screwing that up, eg a free dessert!).

Dinner was very tasty - the spicy calamari was the best I have ever had. Hot pot had plenty of seafood. Pizza was excellent as well. Very good service. You can pay for your meal and movie tickets together and take coffee/drinks/food through to the cinema if you wish. We found it very good value for money as well.

Semi formal Bistro café ala carte menu, Children menú available with a daily chef special
Loved this cafe, was really busy and we got the last table but the service was quick and efficient. Coffee came quickly and the food followed not long after. Both our breakfasts were delicious, we will definitely return.

We visited on a Saturday for lunch and were overall happy with the food which is tasting platters and the hosts who were charming. No real highlight with the menu options we tasted although I have to say the cheesecake was a great finisher. Well worth the visit.

We had booked a few days in advance for a special birthday which was necessary as this place was fully booked and every table enjoying tasty food.We choose the 5 course degustation with matching wines and loved every mouthful. The wine choices were excellent and mostly local. The Southland beef the best we have ever eaten. The courses were small and lacked vegetables. The service was excellent and staff friendly. We highly recommend booking in advance.

Tasting room and Cellar door for Poppies Martinborough Wines. We believe wine should be shared with food and occasion so from this we serve a fresh seasonal vineyard platter for lunch with the theory being something on the platter will match and enhance o
In the weeks leading up to our holiday I made a reservation by phone for a Saturday lunch at Poppies Martinborough, we were booked in for the 2pm sitting. This vineyard was very atmospheric on arrival, the front courtyard was full of guests, inside was much the same, tasting bar on the right was full, to the left there were a few tables spare in the restaurant, this place was live. Our waiter lead us to our table inside, settled us in with menus and the process for lunch, this started with tasting a range of wines at the cellar bar. We were served by Poppies husband, he got things rolling, he was friendly and informative, I lost track of how many wines we tasted; 6-8 maybe. This experience was cosy, atmospheric and relaxing, all the while enjoying the company of the others in our small group of wine tasters.Once back at our table we ordered wine by the glass, one which we enjoyed at the tasting and one which we thought might complement the upcoming food platter. The menu is limited offering only a share platter and a short list of desserts, the platter included a variety of ingredients: Pork belly, dolmades, smoked salmon, olive tapenade, spicy tomato relish, frittata, wedges of soft cheese, grilled vege, marinated mushrooms and more. Accompanying bread or biscuits is not included but as a separate order. The platter was sufficient for lunch, while we did not have dessert there was just a little space left for it.We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and wine tasting experience at Poppies, staff were friendly and appeared to love what they do. Highly recommend.

We were a group of twelve women for Saturday lunch. Toby and team were welcoming, friendly and funny! Very efficient and polite in encouraging us to choose quickly so the kitchen could manage our large group order before the arrival of other diners, Toby nonetheless made us feel like special guests. The food was delicious - my lamb shank tender, tasty and falling off the bone, and the bread and butter pudding lived up to the hype. Beautiful venue, lovely room, definitely recommend.
