We had a two course dinner as part of our stay at hotel De Cooghen. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and was nicely decorated and lit, but the quantity and quality of the food was greatly disappointing. After a really salty starter (mushroom soup) our main course (a simple grilled chicken fillet) turned out to be mostly raw. The waiter did apologize for this and wanted to offer us a new plate, but this definitely spoiled our appetite. The breakfast buffet however, that is served for hotel guests in the same restaurant, is flawless.

What a nice atmosphere this restaurant has. It is really inviting and has a magnificent interior design. The food is excellent and very tasty. The service of the staff is not consistent, some were very quick, others you had to call twice to get some attention. At the end of the road: the restaurant is certainly in for a second visit.

First place we went to with professional and sufficient staff. Surprisingly variated menu (not standard tourist stuff only) and food was just excelent for a reasonable price. Furthermore it was not overcrowded so no reservations needed. Might be different if more people would discover this place though. Would go again.

Nice restaurant, ideal for families and parties.Has an excellent and really creative kitchen
This restaurant received a lot of publicity in magazines about Texel (which you can find on the ferry), but I found the food pretty average. The lambstew I had wasn't of great quality (lots of chunks of fat in the stew, that's not how lambstew is supposed to be) and the French fries were too salty (please leave the choice of putting salt on the fries tot the customer... why else would you put a salt shaker on the table?). We also had a TX gin tonic there which was good.

We went here because it was number one on tripadvisor and ordered two dishes, the garnalen kroketten(Shrimp croquettes) and âiets lekkers uit de zeeâ(something delicious from the sea) the kroketten were substandard compared to what you get elsewhere and the plate of what we expected to be seafood was a small bowl of mussels, clams but mostly surimi! I find it crazy to go eat on a beach on an island in the North Sea and to be served a bowl of warm surimi that comes more out of a factory than it does the sea. When I told them that I was disappointed that I had been served a bowl of surimi, they told me that it was normal, and that there were some mussels and clams too... when you know that a kilo of mussels with fries costs about 22⬠in Belgium and the Netherlands, 12,50⬠for a bowl of warm surimi and three mussels is a bit steep. Maybe other dishes are better but I certainly wonât try my luck by going back.

Dined in this restaurant twice in one week. I think that says enough. Pure quality food together with a very motivated staff that gave us a good service. I had lamb (perfect), my wife had fish (Dorade, excellent). This restaurant deserves the highest qualification. If I have the give one improvement advice: be more generous with vegetables.

We serve one menu of at least 4 courses (saturday starting at 5 courses) with only the ingredients that we really support. Our appetizers and dishes are inspired by the seasons, what the island offers us and vegetables have the leading role. The meat, fis
Whilst holidaying on Texel, we celebrated our wedding anniversary with our two boys (aged 9 and 13) by introducing them to fine din8ng in Kook Atelier. They were a little nervous beforehand, partly at the thought of experimenting with food and partly because we don't speak Dutch. As we entered the restaurant, any fears were quickly dispelled as our waitress greeted us in excellent English and went out of her way to make us all feel at home. We went for a six course 'surprise' menu, with added amuse bouches. We were not disappointed; every course was made from fresh, local produce and was presented with beauty, style and in one course humour (a delicious seafood dish served in a sardine tin!)The taste combinations were exquisite, with parsley sorbet, served with strawberries in multiple forms, a real surprise hit! The service was also exceptional, the waitress and chef going out of their way to ensure we all got the most out of our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a truly fine dining experience. Thank you. Thank you so much for this wonderfull review, hope to see you again!
