We decided to leave this venue until the final night of our Honeymoon as we had build up so much excitement and anticipation in reading the experiences of other visitors and seeing such cruelty-free foods served in such a kaleidoscope of colours.Upon arrival, we were fortunate to only be a party of two as there was a queue outside the entrance door awaiting a table and the only guests before us formed a group of 3 so we were asked in first. We walked past the staff member who told us to come in and we just stood looking a little silly by the ground floor cashier area with no guidance before another member of staff told us that there was a queue for service and that we must wait outside. Fortunately, the young lady who told us to come in reappeared to advise her colleague to seat us. We were taken up some very steep stairs (I have no idea about health and safety law in the Netherlands but these steps are only means of access between the ground and first floor and they absolutely present a risk [despite the handrail] so please be careful) and shown to our seat (a nice little spot next to the window). We ordered two medium sized beers (actually small) and a Coca-Cola to sample what is popularly known as a "Diesel" (lager and coke as opposed to a typical shandy). We would recommend this combination. We then ordered the Shawarma Burger for the better half and the Daddy McChicken Burger for me. Unfortunately, aesthetic takes precedent over substance in that whilst the dishes are a colourful delight to the eye, they lack a comparable taste and sadly weren't even lukewarm. The venue seems to favour quantity over quality with regard to the capacity of customers. When full (which it was for us) it has a claustrophobic feeling about it.Excellent food should take precedent over serving colourful dishes to as many people as possible for the purpose of being tagged in thousands of Instagram posts to entice further consumers. The dishes are not cheap (â¬15 for loaded fries).Sadly, what was a much looked-forward-to evening ended in anticlimactic fashion.P.S. The Daddy McChicken wasn't filling so a quick visit to a local Albert Reijn for a sandwich and a nearby dessert shop for a waffle filled that void.Very much overrated.

Soaring above Amsterdamâs rooftops, step into a calm and composed realm of fine dining at Ciel Bleu restaurant. Situated on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, Ciel Bleu holds two Michelin stars for its international cuisine led by chefs Onno Kokmeij
We had an amazing experience at Ciel Bleu. We were seated in a quiet corner of the restaurant overlooking the lights of the city. Our delicious dinner looked like art as it was served by a very attentive wait staff. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and chose the perfect wine for each course. Highly recommend!

Restaurant Vinkeles is housed in an old bakery; which was set up in 1787 by the Regents of the Catholic Church, who at the time owned the building. The bakery flourished until 1811 and guests still can see the original ovens, which were discovered intact
The menu has a proxy fixe option and ala cart. We ordered ala cart. Garden snails were perfect as well as a superb pigeon dish. Perfect. The other personâs had a turbot and and scallops. All dishes were very pleasing and tasteful. Good wine selections and very nice cocktails. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is cozy and very warm. Staff was absolutely delightful.Little did we know our son-in-law contacted the restaurant to let them know of my wifeâs birthday. Nothing was said until the meal was over. We were leaving and Chef Kuipers met us at the door and thanked us for dining with him. He gave my wife a beautiful box with birthday greetings on the box and a nice apple cake inside. Quite a special touch. It is expensive but one should expect the prices with the quality and atmosphere.Dear rhpatt29,Thank you for your 5 star review on Tripadvisor. It was our pleasure to welcome you in the restaurant to celebrate your birthday! Your son in law made the perfect choice for you to end your trip with!We hope we gave you some Southern warmth in the Netherlands despite the rainy day!See you next time when you are in Amsterdam and maybe with the whole family?Kind regards,Tiffany Kensmil
