My wife and I stayed at the hotel Old Dutch and had diner at this restaurant, which is the same establishment. At Volendam, you eat fish, right? Looking at the menu, dishes were well priced (meaning rather high) so this raised our expectations. For the main dish, we ordered (1) sole fried in butter and (2) codfish supreme with lobster meat and coquilles St. Jacques.Starters were very nice, but things went wrong with the main (and most expensive) dishes:(1) Sole: Far too salty and seemed to have spicing that is generally used with 'kibbeling' (snack fish food). This overruled all the (other) flavours the sole may have had...(2) codfish etc: codfish and lobster meat were very nice. The coquilles had a very strange flavour and smell. Not fresh and I skipped 90% of these. The mustard-butter sauce had cooled too much and had already developed a 'skin'.Along with the above, they served cooked side dishes: fries, fried + boiled potatoes, red cabage, chicory gratiné with cheese and rhubarb. All of these dished had been waiting too long to be served! Fries and fried potatoes had gone soft and soggy. Vegetables (red cabage and chicory) were almost cold. I ate a bit of the chicory gratiné and it was quite nice, except for the temperature. The desserts were OK though nothing special. Icecream from the nearby supermarket I guess.Dear Le Pompadour, my genuine advices: (1) Get your act together! (2) Reduce the dishes on your menu and reduce the number of side dishes. (3) Do the dishes that you are serving really well, I mean REALLY WELL, I mean best of town! (4) Use first class ingredients and treat these right, that is if you're going to ask premium prices (which you already do!). (5) Attend to your guests better than you do now. Always keep an eye on them whether they need something or need to have their wines poured. We had to wait quite long for our dishes and had to pour our wine ourselves.FINAL REMARK: The personnel was friendly and willing, that's not the problem. The overall managing of the restaurant and kitchen is failing completely.

This restaurant, located at the middle of the busy Haven street in Volendam was packed at lunch time, and we were glad to find a table for the four of us. Typically it offers the usual fishing village specialties, mostly fish and seafood, but steaks and other dishes as well. We ordered a tray for two, with an assortment of fried fish and seafood which was generous in size, but not particularly tasty. My sister-in-law, who ordered the cod, fared better. The atmosphere was nice though, the service swift, and it was evident that the patrons were enjoying their food and their time. There are of course a lot of similar places nearby. Prices are moderate.

Cozy restaurant near the harbour of Volendam. Serving fresh sushi and grilled bites.
I had a wonderful dining experience in this great new Asian restaurant, located at the marina in Volendam. The staff is very friendly. They have a great choice of sushi and other delicious Asian bites. Loved all the sushi and grilled skeelers, especially the wafu steak! i Will definately come back to taste the rest of the menu.

We had lunch here after our arrival in Volendam. Random selection that worked out well. Service was poor enough but we were not too bothered as we were in no hurry and were enjoying the sun and sitting outdoors. Lunch was enjoyed by all. Nothing spectacular but did hit the spot after being up very early for a flight to Amsterdam. There are quite a few choices for eating in Volendam on the quayside but this is one of the better choices.

In the heart of Volendam, on the Embankment at the port, is our restaurant. Villagers and guests from all over the world come to enjoy our daily fine fish or meat dishes. With a beautiful panorama on the IJsselmeer is wining. Superior products, enchanting
We came in attracted by the nice menu, lively atmosphere and friendly staff. All good... only that the mussels that came to our table were closed in an unacceptable percentage (50%-60%). They were clearly not well cooked. Staff understood it, and reordered it to the kitchen, but only for 1 portion (we had ordered 2 portions, which we stopped eating immediately). The new portion was very well cooked and very nice. Unfortunately when the bill came, they tried to bill us for the 2 portions not well cooked... that was not nice. We shared our disagreement and they removed one of the two portions of the bill, so it was eventually fair, but it is not nice when you need to discuss these things, is it? Particularly with mussels, which is somehow a "risky" dish.I think we were unlucky - staff seemed nice and the other dishes seemed quite good. Other customers eating mussels did not have the same issue- as we saw. Nobody likes being the unlucky customer :-)

Eating and drinking at the harbour restaurant De Lunch is rarely a solitary experience. The tables always present a heady and fascinating mix of tourists hailing from all corners of the world, rubbing shoulders with formally attired business people, colle
After a long drive to Volendam we decided to eat out and as one of our party didn't particularly fish I had already researched the local restaurants to find one that had a good selection of non-seafood dishes and had picked De Lunch. And what a great decision that proved to be. The place itself is full of character and lots of charm and located right by the harbour. There is a good selection of dishes, seafood or otherwise and each one of them was tasty; so much so we returned 2 days later for more. Obviously the fish is a must as it is so fresh; I could have eaten there every day.The staff at De Lunch were fantastic, fast and friendly. A special big thanks to Angela and Brian who both took great care of us but all of the staff did a great job. Even knocked up a little unexpected treat for my Dads birthday.

We were at restaurant for an early dinner. Menu provided in English which was very helpful. Childrenâs options available. All dishes cooked perfectly and very much enjoyed. Very much fish focused with a few veg and meat options that suited us perfectly. Views of the marina and small sculpture garden. Staff were attentive, polite and funny. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
