Though often overshadowed (especially for tourists) by its much larger and more famous neighbor Amsterdam about ten miles east, Haarlem’s history actually goes back further. And with about 150,000 people, it’s the capital of the Noord-Holland region. The Teylers Museum, with its unique collection of art and artifacts, is the oldest museum in the Netherlands. The fantastic Frans Hals Museum has many works by the artist and other Haarlem schoolers. Grote Markt, the main town square, is a must-see.

A very good selection of Italian delicacies. Very friendly personnel. Large quantities of food so hard to finish more than two courses. The antipasto sampler is highly recommended. You have to wait a bit for the dishes, but it is worth it.

Bij Tholen is opened for wine and dinner. We offer our guests the things they are in the mood for; a good glass of wine with bites after shopping or our outstanding menu in the evening. Bij Tholen is located in the centre of Haarlem, between the station e
We came across this lovely little restaurant by searching Yelp from our hotel across from the central station. It recommended that we make reservations (Saturday evening) so I first walked down the street to peek at the menu. It's a special place with bistro-type dishes--not a huge menu, but plenty from which to choose; 8 starters, 7 main courses, about 7 desserts. The menu sounded like the meals would be prepared very elegantly, but the dining room was a bit less formal. It was perfect! A three-course meal at â¬29.95 is definitely a fair price for such q delightfully prepared and presented meal--and plenty of it; you won't go hungry. The staff is well prepared to offer wine selections with each dish. As a matter of fact, recommended wines are actually printed on the menu! I suspect you'll find something that you absolutely love. Our waitress was knowledgeable, pleasant, and efficient. The owner works the floor as well so you'll meet him and have the opportunity to thank him for a lovely evening. Two people, two wines each, about $95.00, (â¬80) but well worth every dollar. Delicious!

The town of Haarlem is lovely with lots of small shops to explore. But find the restaurant Brick and experience the 3 course surprise menu! Each dish was presented in a wonderful manner and delicious. The wine was also fairly priced. The service was efficient and friendly and you got to see the chefs create, while they also acknowledged you too. It is a small place so call for a reservation. One of my highlights of our trip!

met friends at this convienient cafe in center. The waiter was extremley friendly and helped mus with the beers and wine selection. The owner/manager came to our table to say hello also which added a special touch. It seemed mainly locals ate their which was great. The food was lovely . I had ordered snails and spring chicken . Delicious. A funny story- I went to toilet and while away a large bird stole half my meal and beer. On my return I thought my husband had eaten it, but the manager quickly rushed over to explain and offered me a new dish and drink. All guests had a laugh and so did I.If it wasn't our only day in Harlem i would have returned. ent

I was part of a group of 25 for dinner. So many different plates brought out to try and very plentiful. Was a food orgy with meats, veggies, seafood, appetizer type items, etc. Seemed neverending. You will not leave hungry. Bonus: the food was really tasty/delicious. Service was spot on , excellent throughout dinner even though space for server to work through was tight. Worth a visitThank you so much. You were a great group.

Authentic urban Frenchy bistro offering great French wines at surprisingly affordable prices, lobsters, dry aged beef and oysters.
We had just got off the canal boat trip, heading back to our rental apartment, we were starving, my wifeâs eagle eyes spotted oysters on a menu outside the restaurant, a quick word with one of the staff and in we went, we had table 1, on 13.12.2018 at about 1pm, our server was very welcoming and friendly, she was very knowledgeable about the menu, she recommended great wine to go with my wifeâs oysters and her steak tartare, she also helped me with a local beer to go with my risotto, and condiments for our childâs food, she went out of her way to help us find our next destination, a great experience thanks to her. I am so sorry I do not know her name, she was not wearing a badge and she is not mentioned on the receipt, many thanks.

Dutch website Heerlijk.nl offered a 5 course dinner for an excellent price. We were very impressed by the quality of food, excellent service but most of all by the inspired, unexpected and daring combination of ingredients that worked brilliantly for every course.
